I feel like if the city or town (whoever holds the budget for this thing) would just put a proper walking path, some more signs and pretty it up a little more perhaps with a children's playground down there, it would be much more inviting....More

We've been here before. This time staying at Shem Creek in because we loved visiting last year. Beautiful walk on the pier. Several amazing restaurants within walking distance. Water activities and boats coming and going. Really like it.

I walked along the boardwalk once in the afternoon and once early in the morning. It's a lovely and peaceful spot and good for spotting birds. My only suggestion is to go when it's not too hot out--there is no shade along the walk.

10 minutes from downtown, take the Ravenel bridge and Shem Creek is right where Vickerys, Reds, the Shelter and other restaurants are.

There might be places to crab in the Charleston area but not right on Shem Creek near the hotel. The best source for that information would be South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
