Its one of those places that people are a little confused. A memorial to the Cold War. Submariners were on a Cold Front Line. Rather fitting such a memorial is placed at Patriots Point well done.

You get to climb in and walk the length of the sub seeing various items inside. This is a must do if you are at Patriots Point but would be hard for elderly or people with disabilities.

Years ago I used to boat up and down the Cooper River and would often come astride one of the nuclear submarines going out or coming in from its 6-month deployment. Ever feel like a minnow next to a whale - well I did. The...More

This memorial is very nice. It features a submarine buried in the ground with a nice path winding around it. It is worth a stop, but I wouldn't make it a priority on your trip.

A full-sized submarine, submerging in..... a field of grass??? Free exhibit....This caught my attention, by the ball field of the University of Charleston, in Mount Pleasant, S.C. The multiple plaques and explanatory pieces about the submarine corps of the Cold War era was fascinating.

Again, one of those sights that if you have any interest in either history or military - this is where to visit. You just can't beat the experience of Patriots Point.

if you are on Patriots Point, you must stop for 15 minutes to see this memorial to the submarines of the Cold War. Very interesting... good history lesson and very meaningful.

A very good monument to those that served this country during that time, Lot of hardships and family separation, it was a Dangerous time and mission. Needs more upkeep by Patriots Point, ie the grass cut and trimmed, the bushes trimmed.
