The town of Ninety Six was inhabited by Loyalists during the Revolutionary War. The earthen fort was built in a star formation by the British to protect the townspeople, although there were only about 100 inhabitants. Very nice, well marked trails, with informative signage. Had no idea there was so mouc Revolutionary War history there

The town of Ninety Six sprang up after the British occupation of the old Ninety Six site, preserved as a National Monument just eats of town. It has many historical buildings and homes.
