The museum has the history of saving the wild turkey and present day conservation. There are excellent action displays such as a laser firing range and a helicopter for using controlled burning for forest renewal. There are lots of displays of turkeys and turkey callers. There are full- scale dioramas of turkey hunting. There is a change for non-members, but... More

Great stop full of information on wild turkeys. The museum has some great exhibits for all ages, with historical background and interactive things. There is even an out of service forest fire helicopter in the building!

They have lots of turkeys, the worlds largest turkey call, animatronic sculptures, a fishing pond, a picnic area, and all sorts of outdoorsy things.

Very nicely done, talking statues very realistic, nice displays, learned about the organization and what it has accomplished. The video shooting range and helicopter simulator are not to be missed. Wasn't sure about the place, but glad we stopped and explored.

Do not go here unless you call first. We were given conflicting information about the hours, and went out of our way to visit on the holiday weekend, the Saturday before Labor Day. The grounds are beautiful, and the inside of the building looks inviting. What a disappointment! Thank heavens for the little town of Edgefield.

Very well done and you should expect to spend at least two hours at this hidden treasure of Western South Carolina. We visited here with a group for an hour and we didn't even scratch the surface of all the exhibits. There were static displays, interactive dioramas, videos, and even a video game. Plan on at least two hours and... More

This museum is nicely done with interesting facts presented in an entertaining way. I especially liked the "old man" telling his tales :-) Separate from the museum is a lovely pond, a nice picnic area (although the restrooms were locked), and an easy walking trail through the woods. Nice stop that I have driven past numerous times before.

If you are at all interested in turkeys, this is the place to visit. Located in Edgefield, there are lots of shops that add to the location and the experience.

We have visited Edgefield several times, but never have time to stop at the NWTF site. Sorry we didn't visit sooner. The museum is excellent and provide an incredible history of the wild turkey and the great work of the federation. Well worth the $5 admission.
