I did not go into the State House but the surrounding park was one of my favorite places. Shady and peaceful. Nice pathways and beautiful old trees.

The State House is a must see while in Columbia. The building is open to visitors and free guided tours are available. The interior is spectacular! The building was renovated a few years back and is now immaculate and fully restored. Well worth a visit...More

The State house should be of great interest to kids but ONLY if it is in session. Then it is great to see governing in action and the term lobbying takes on a new meaning when seen live. Make your plans accordingly.
