Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to nearly 2,000 animals that represent more than 350 species from around the world. A visit to the Zoo will play host to an array of wild adventures from a diving expedition on a Pacific coral reef to a safari through the plains of Africa to an interactive Outback encounter with a flock of sociable lorikeets.

The Botanical Garden boasts 70-acres of unparalleled beauty and is considered one of the America's best public gardens. Dramatic and themed gardens showcase more than 4,300 species of native and exotic plants, providing a living classroom for gardeners and non-gardeners alike.

The Garden also is the gateway to natural river views and spectacular valley overlooks. In addition, guests can view structural remains dating back to the early 1800s with South Carolina's textile industry and the Civil War.

I take my daughter to the zoo quite often, especially now that they opened a splash pad. Make sure to bring your own straw, they stopped giving straws out to customers who purchase ICEE'S or drinks.

If you start out feeding the lorikeets they will be hungry and you will get a LOT of attention! If you go later, they aren't hungry. Kids under 8 might be freaked out by all the attention but my 8, 9, 12, and 18 year old and I were laughing hysterically! The birds are GORGEOUS and so comical! DO NOT... More

This is a FUN place for the WHOLE FAMILY! All of the animals were there and the party was on! If you need to get out and take a walk this is the place to do it, If you can not walk long or far, there are adult scooters to use. There are also strollers to push your little ones... More

My wife and I, as well as several guests, have spent an afternoon at the zoo and found it to be a wonderful and relaxing environment. The inhabitants are treated well and come in a wide variety of species. Last time we went to the adjoining Botanical Gardens with numerous plants and flowers, butterflies, birds and trees along paths lined... More

Riverbanks is not just a zoo. There are gardens to explore, regularly scheduled events and activities. And a zip line! There are many venues featuring food. The animals are exotic and so well cared for. This attraction is not quick view. Plan to spend the day!

We drove down from Charlotte to spend the day at the zoo. We were there for about 3 hours. The sea lion & penguin exhibits are closed (which we knew beforehand). The small playground is closed too. It was pretty busy due to the nice weather. The zoo & exhibits seem well kept and clean. The food lines were long... More

The Riverbanks Zoo has something for everyone! The new Grizzly Bear exhibit is my personal favorite, but all of the animals and habitats are outstanding! Kids love the carousel, the train, feeding the giraffes, and riding on ponies. If you go, make sure to try out the pizza. It is delicious!!!!

We spent a great day at the riverbank Zoo. Seen all kinds of animals and even got to feed some of them. We had a good lunch [the salad was great but the burger was only OK] Couple of exhibits were closed but we had a lot to see. Very cliean and a lot of fun to see.
