We booked this online and were skeptical on what the ride would be - expecting touristy, but we were pleasantly surprised! We were teamed with John, who was not only a history buff, but a 6th generation South Carolinian & regaled us with stories, gossip and fun. I have to say it was the highlight of our trip. We look... Hands down the best tour guide I've had during my travels - Todd. He was entertaining and funny (in a non-cheesy way - I hate that fake/rehearsed humor) and super knowledgeable about the city of Charleston. I'm not sure if it would be possible to request a guide for your carriage tour, but if you can - Todd's your guy.... More

I've done a lot of tours in a lot of cities and Classic Carriage was one of the best. They are proud of your city and proud of the care they take of their horses. There are several different companies but Classic Carriage offered the most options. With the other companies they get assigned a part of they city for... More

These folks really know a lot about Charleston! Their 'route' is determined by the town just as they are about to take you away, so they have to know a lot, about a lot. Very informative and entertaining. Definitely recommend.

This specific tour, "From Slavery to Freedom", was outstanding and really is the "rest of the story". Well, actually it is the real story of Charleston. Thanks so much for organizing this tour.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the Slavery to Freedom tour and appreciated the honesty and frankness, as well as the delicate nature, or the tour guide. It was both informative and meaningful. Everyone should take this tour and learn about this information. It's a beautiful way to see the city and to learn about its history.

Tour guide seemed knowledgeable and well informed with fun facts and light humor. Enjoyed the carriage ride setting and hearing brief history remarks as we rode along. Charleston is a beautiful city! The tour guide pointed out historical sites and routed us through the picturesque streets full of charm and character! Really enjoyed the hour tour!

A friend recommended this activity during our first visit to Charleston, and we were not disappointed! Our guide (Chris?) had a wonderful South Carolina accent, a piquant sense of humor, and plenty of historical information to impart. Our horse, Bud, was a gem - those black Percherons are beautiful and the reason we chose this tour company. If you arrive... More

The routes (four in total) mean that you have only a 25% chance of seeing what you might want to see. All of them are quite nice. Disappointed by the guide...it could have been more informative (did a lot of talking about the horse!). If you can, take a walking tour that you can include what you want to see!

Very good 1 hour tour by horse pulled carriage. Informative, fun and attentive tour guide. Lots of fun facts and interesting tidbits that you wouldn't get on your own. Jackson the horse was fabulous too!
