This is strictly a review of the grounds and outside of the building as it was closed during my visit. The church itself is of a very nice, unique circular construction that fits well with the historic feel of downtown Charleston. The real point of...More

The congregation was established and co-founded in 1681 by English Congregationalists, Scots Presbyterians, and French Huguenots in the spirit of diversity. The circular sanctuary is in the design of Richardson Romanesque with lovely stained glass windows. The newly renovated colonial burial grounds date from 1695....More

We did this as part of walk around the city. It was beautiful architecture and as we read the oldest graveyard in Charleston. We walked around and read headstones and enjoyed the way the church has continued to fix and honor the history.

It's a beautiful church inside and out. We were there for the Sounds of Charleston concert (which was very good) and although the church is small by today's standards, it has great acoustics and interesting architecture. If you have a chance to see it, please...More

The church was not open when we visited, but the cemetery featured many interesting, historic graves in such a pretty setting with Spanish moss hanging from the trees.

This weekly Wednesday professionally performed concert at the unique Circular Congressional Church is exceptional ! The one hour and a half multi-faceted performances were accompanied by a variety of instruments. I found it described in the Church information, but will certainly recommend to the Charleston...More

Beautiful church! And a beautiful cemetery! So many wonderful headstones that are somehow so well preserved. The oldest grave in Charleston is in this cemetery. It's definitely worth a walk through. There is also a beautiful live oak in the back of the lot that...More

We love this church. We chose to get married here. It's history is extraordinary, interwoven with the often painful history of Charleston. It's been a progressive force in the city since 1681! The architecture is stunning; the cemetery is the oldest in the city. The...More
