Experience the sounds that define Charleston's musical history...from gospel to Gershwin. Each weekly live concert features music of the Civil War; light classics of the venerable St. Cecelia Society; the music of George Gershwin, who wrote "Porgy & Bess" during a summer in Charleston; gospel spirituals sung by slaves as they passed through the port of Charleston; and "Amazing Grace", the words of which were inspired in the composer, John Newton, while he worshipped in our host venue, Circular Congregational Church. Frommers Travel Guide says, "the best night out in Charleston...a must see performance. Visit our website or call the box office for concert dates and ticket information.

Thanks for your very positive review of The Sound of Charleston. The St. Cecelia Society (classical music) section of the show is designed to last about 18 minutes out of the 75 minute total. That's pretty close to what Jessica's pieces lasted.

This concert was an optional activity on my tour group's itinerary when we were in town in late March, and those of us who decided to attend agreed that it was one of the highlights of our three days in Charleston. I loved the intimate...More

From classical to civil war tunes to Jazz. Excitement and energy of this concert raised the roof of the old Congregational church. A must see event for any music lover.

Thanks for your positive review. I am wondering, however, why you gave us only one star out of five. Perhaps you reversed the rating scale?

We like the Mills house . It may be a bit pricey, but the atmosphere is nice and we usually get a salad and burger. Check out Gaulart &Maliclet a little french place a few blocks. There are so many restaurants you can't go... More

Hi, Bill! I've been trying to contact you re our group reservation for October 7th via the "email" on your website -- but obviously it isn't working. Didn't know if you were aware of the problem with the "contact us" messaging. And it must have not been working when I first contacted about our situation a couple months ago, since I've not received an answer. (Don't want to go into the situation on this site.) I will give you a call at a reasonable time tomorrow (it's nearly 11:30 pm right now!)
