Join a 13th generation Middleton, for a personalized local perspective. End the tour in a private garden with refreshments. Walk with a local who grew up romping the streets of the downtown peninsula. The history of the city will come alive through the bricks and mortar still standing.

Clear, interesting, unhurried tour of Old Charleston - ending in charming private courtyard for lemonade! Martha gave us some great highlights of Old Charleston, some revolutionary war history, some civil-war/ war-of-Northern-aggression history, some architectural history with examples and lots of insight all around. She was particularly welcoming of questions, and we visited one of the sites of her own archeological... More

Incredible experience learning all about Charleston. From the homes, architecture, streets, alleys, cemeteries, churches and wars, this tour was complete and rich in history. Highly Recommend!

Anne showed more interest in her tour than any other tour we've been on. Interesting walk thru areas other tours don't go. Long family history in Charleston.

Martha gives a unique perspective of the history of the city ! She took us down walkways that only a true native of the city would know. The tour ended with a lovely glass of lemonade . This should be high on your to due list

This isn't one of those cut and dry overviews of timelines that history tours usually encompass, and in this case, that's a great thing when you're touring Charleston. Anne did a wonderful job showing us the oldest section of Charleston, providing interesting information about the people and houses of Charleston. But she also gave great insight as to how Charleston... More

If you are a history buff, and want real insight into the place, take this tour on your first day in town! Martha is very personable and extremely knowledgeable. Presents difficult facts (i.e. around slavery) without sugar-coating them. Tells it like it is. And she will show you back passageways that will take your breath away.

The concierges of our hotel recommended this historic tour of Charleston with the Middleton Sisters. We had SUCH a great time. We learned so much about the history, architecture and culture of the city. Highly recommend this tour for visitors to Charleston!

A must do in Charleston. Our guide was one a lovely young lady (one of the owners) and was quite taken and knowledgeable or Charleston. Our walk was much longer than anticipated on an extremely warm September day (humidity high but it is Charleston). Do not take this walk if you have any trouble in traveling several miles by foot... This was one of the best walking tours we have been on. Martha is very passionate about her Charleston and the history. We learned so much about the history. Martha gave us other suggestions to experience. The tour ended at her parents yard with fresh lemonade which was just perfect. Would highly recommend this tour. Not to be missed!!!

Martha is a wealth of information and gave a history of the city with great detail. As a native Charlestonian whose family has been there for generations she provided a nice perspective of "then" and "now". Take the tour early in your visit as it is a fine way to get introduced to the city.
