I went on the guided tour through the house and grounds. The architecture is beautiful and it easy to imagine yourself back in the 1800s while walking the grounds. Located on the Ashley River, Drayton Hall is very peaceful. Being a photographer it was particularly nice to be able to photograph inside the house, so many historic homes do not... More

Peggy our tour guide was very informative with a hint of humour. She kept our teenagers engaged. Her ability to give an accurate and fair representation of the Drayton family is a credit to her. She also was able to correct our own preconceived ideas of enslaved people and life on a plantation. The house itself was intriguing. So much... More

We enjoyed both our guided and walking tour of Drayton Hall. It is not a fully restored site, but "stabilized" and it's just incredible that in the more than 200 years of its existence, it has never been modernized. Walking through the stately mansion and on the grounds, you can really get a feel for just how opulent and grand... More

Drayton hall is not furnished and NOT air-conditioned so if you go in the summer be aware that this house will be HOT! The house is by guided tour only and there is a very interesting story behind the house, a must see.

We showed up at 2pm and were able to get on the 3:30 tour. The tour guide was interesting and very knowledgable. This is a nice place to visit after middleton so you can compare them.

This was our first stop and it's hard to top. It's quite remarkable. Great tour for the interior of the home, and the self-guided tour was nice as well. Beautiful spot highly recommend. Ground are lovely, and not overwhelming.

This was such an informative experience. I rate it as a must visit for the Charleston area. Only a short drive from downtown.

Drayton Hall never ceases to take my breath away. Preserved in its raw glory, this home will make you think the Bennett's (pride and prejudice) more than Gone With the Wind. If only the walls could talk! The price is reasonable, especially considering preservation is quite costly. Our tour guide was very informative and outgoing.

Who knew visiting a home with no furnishings could be so interesting? Thanks to Miss Peggy, we learned about the home's architecture and a lot more. We were very glad we stayed for the talk about slave life on the plantation.
