Boat ride was pleasant. The boat could use a little fixing up,...but it got us there. The fort is worth seeing. It puts a good perspective on the City's history. The national park personnel are fabulous.

Between boarding time, 30 minute ride over and back, with only 1 hour on the island you will spend about 3 hours on this excursion. The staff on the ferry was very informative about the sights, forts and islands in Charleston Harbor. There were 2...More

The fort is interesting if you are really into civil war history. The guides are very nice and knowledgeable. Compared to other historic forts there's not much left to see.

You get a good view of the harbor. Saw dolphins jumping in the harbor. See where the civil war began.

We enjoyed the tour to Fort Sumter this morning. There is a nice display at the visitors center and the boat left on time. I would recommend booking ahead as there are only three tours a days. We took the 9:30 which was cool as...More

The fort is all open but I believe they do. When I went it was sunny and while at the fort it turned black and poured!! Boats were still running back and forth. Hope that helps. Hope you get to see it!!
