Absolutely love this area! Enjoyed the history, the architecture, the restaurants, the shopping, the people. It is a must visit destination. Take the walking tour, visit the islands, enjoy the beaches and stay awhile. The area is a treasure! We could spend days here and will definitely visit again

Great place to walk. Peaceful, quiet, magnificent Antebellum Mansions in a friendly quiet neighborhood. We were the only tourists walking the streets on a beautiful cool early June evening. People are moving from Charleston to this great Beaufort SC neighborhood.

The Point, or the Old Point as it is often referred to to distinguish it from other local places that have the word "Point" in their names, is the center of the socially elite in Beaufort. Beautiful houses, magnificent old oak trees, all give you the flavor of stepping back in time. It is probably best appreciated on foot.

Big houses overlooking the water. Nice area within walking distance to the little downtown area. Enjoyed the recent Holiday Home Tour there.

I walked around The Point in June 2021. My main objective was to see the homes used in famous movies such as "The Big Chill", "The Great Santini", "The Prince of Tides". I stopped in the Beaufort Visitors Center for information and they were very helpful in explaining where to find these famous houses. I walked 15 minutes to the Point and found the home where "The Big Chill" and "The Great Santini" were filmed. It is called the Tidalholm. I compared what I was seeing to what I found on Google to make sure I had found the right house. Next, I walked towards the center of town. Before you reach Bay Street and the Woods Memorial Bridge, I found the home used in "The Prince of Tides". Again, I compared what I was seeing to what I found on Google to make sure I had found the right house. Besides these two famous houses, the whole area is full of Antebellum houses and it is a very quiet and peaceful area to walk around. A slow walk around The Point took me no more than 30-45 minutes and I ended up at the Waterfront Park and Bay Street.

took a carriage ride and then came back next day to see more closely - beautiful, historic homes with some famous ones, too (both in movie making and history)

A must see in Beaufort, the Point offers a glimpse into the history and affluence of the city. You are surrounded by the beauty of the homes, the view of the water and the huge, Spanish Moss draped oaks. Lovely.
