Elk is simply a great place to ski. The lifts are old and slow, the lodge is small and old and if you don't get to the upper lot early in the day, parking is a pain. None of the foregoing matter much because the mountain has great terrain and is rarely crowded. LIke any ski mountain in PA, conditions... More

For ski families looking for a friendly mountain to ski without the crowds, Elk is your place in PA. Growing up in upstate NY, I have had the pleasure of skiing in the Berkshires, Southern VT and the Adirondacks. Pennsylvania doesn't really offer comparable ski areas, except for Elk. It is a family friendly place. You won't get that subway... More

We went to Elk on Saturday March 4th after weeks of weird temps in February. I would have assumed Elk would be down to one trail and farming snow from the others just to stay open. To our surprise, Elk had many open trails and very little ice on our recent visit. A great day had by all. Conditions were... More

This ain't Utah or Colorado, this is PA skiing, but now our favourite resort. The runs are longer than most PA resorts, the crowds are less but just don't expect powder or 2000+acres. I had a weekend here with my 9yo daughter - We came up after 4 inches of snow on the Thursday and so conditions were great on... More

This is our favorite place to ski in PA because everyone is so friendly. From the very helpful and accommodating staff, to the other skiers. We didn't experience the usual pushy-line-jumpers or obnoxious speed-demons like at the other resorts in eastern PA. There's a laid-back, yet serious skiing vibe. I'm a "green trail" skier, and felt these slopes were a... More

Elk is a little bit farther than Shawnee and Camelback, but it's definitely worth it to avoid the crowds. I like the different terrain and the conditions were very good when were there (after a 12"+ snowfall). There is also night skiing on some of the trails. They could use a magic carpet in the beginner area. You need to... More

They say it in their ads but it's true - best mountain in PA that I've been to. Something for everyone. Great bunny slope for learning (my toddler just went with us as well as a beginner snowboarder taking a lesson), good park, great views, and some "off piste" action on some slopes! Small lodge but all amenities and super... More

Ski conditions are always good and after 12+ inches of new powder they were spectacular. Food at the bar was really good including the burgers, chili and cheesesteaks. Service was a little slow to start but after the rush they did a good job of getting us our food.

We visited Elk on a Saturday afternoon and evening and found it a rare but delightful family friendly experience. The staff is super nice and the place and gem of a find. The lines weren't too bad the conditions were actually pretty good considering the amount of snow we've received. They had a band in the bar area that was... More

Nice long runs, only draw back is the slow lifts. This place does have nice trails and I like that they are long. Some good blues if you are an intermediate skier. Big area to bring in your own food but also a bar and restaurant as well. I would go back
