When you ascend the steps and enter the Palmer museum of art, you no longer feel like you are on a college campus. This is a serious museum, beautiful, well laid-out, with a variety of types of exhibits. The gift shop is small, fabulous, and offers awesome gifts in all price ranges.

Palmer has a wonderful eclectic collection of art - period; modern; unique. I am admittedly no expert - but it's laid out in separate sections with just enough information about the artist; period; materials etc. It's easy to drive by - but a place on campus you really should visit. Even the most casual admirer of art will find this... More

We finally stopped in to the Palmer Museum during THON weekend. Parking is the nearby lot is convenient and allowed on Saturday/Sunday. We had passed by a few times when visiting my daughter and due to time constraints did not get a chance to go in. Admission is free, but please leave a donation in the big glass box at... More

Curated w/ love & attention, with the smartest most dedicated group of docents. Always worth an explore or even just a quiet retreat into thermostatically controlled & quiet environment. Most amazing is that it's FREE!! But, try and leave a donation, it's worth your support.

The first two times I visited the Palmer Museum of Art was with family/friend. I later went by myself and was able to explore and spend as much time as I liked, observing what appealed to me. The docent was very helpful. She asked a few questions and directed me to the Alexander Archipenko exhibit which I thoroughly enjoyed, although... More

This is a great little museum on the Penn State campus that has an impressive array of art from different eras. The admission is free so a great place to visit more than once!

Attached to the older museum, which had limited gallery space, the Palmer, named for its major donors, contains valuable collections of pottery from Asia and the Americas, along with a collection of American art & pieces from other areas of the world. There are also special exhibits from time to time.

A fun little museum in the heart of Penn State Univ. Went for the special exhibition on studio glass art and was not disappointed. The collection included multiple pieces by Harvey Littleton, Dale Chihuly, and Lino Tagliapietra among others. The permeant collection includes a good selection of American art and abstract art.

I remember when this Museum opened- over the years they have built up a very nice collection of art that pretty much covers most of Art History- ceramic, glass, modern, American, Asian, European...There is also a good turnover of the art on display- we go once a year and there are always a lot of new things for us to...
