Nice museum

Very professionally done with well preserved local area artifacts. And just a short distance from Quecreek Mine Rescue site.

Nicely done..., beginning with a movie then moving through exhibits, explaining the culture and history of the area and the hard working rural lifestyle of the farmers and how they progressed through time. It was not busy when we were there which was nice going at our own pace. There is also a nice gift shop. Glad we stopped.

We came with a bus group and at first we thought the place was too small town to be interesting but the Historical Center was very well layed out and very interesting insite to the history of western PA. It showed how the area had to change with the times and keep adapting itself. Nice displays then we were lucky... More

My family's roots began in this area and I've been coming to the town and surrounding area for over 50 years. My professional background is in non-profit museums but I had not been to this Historical Center until recently. As we chatted, I was impressed by the passion of the staff and purchased a membership on the spot. My family... More

It's a small place, nothing major but it's nice to visit nonetheless. It talks about the region's farming history and the like and it's interesting to see and hear about.

Just was there for a lecture about the Umberger murder back in the 1800's - interesting and descendants of both the people that were hung and the man murdered were in attendance. Very interesting

10 years ago I spent a few days at the Somerset Historical Center Library and enjoyed the beauty of their facility and excellent resources. This trip I spent 3 whole days 9-5 and found an incredible amount of information on my ancestors. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, they brought resources for me to review which exceeded my expectations.... More

We went to the Somerset Historical Centers Mountain Craft Days and dispite the rain we had a good time. There were people in period clothes showing all kind hand crafts such as a man demonstrating how to make saurekraut another was showing how to make baskets from white oak. From their web site: Mountain Craft Days builds upon age old... More
