Great little shopping village! This village is made up of small businesses and because of that you will find the owner in the store or restaurant every time you visit. They are all welcoming and friendly!

Visited mid-week in the summer and loved the shops we visited and the Mediterranean restaurant (Calypso)  but found no public parking (least didn't see any signs for this) so parked in a random business lot and shop owners were vague about whether this was a good spot to leave our car and wander the town. We did leave it and it was ok.  As annoying/dangerous. was the main street through town had no shoulder (and no parking on it as it was too narrow) but cars and trucks (including semi's) went through at 35+ mph. Given the lack of shoulder this meant they passed by the sidewalk a few feet away from the pedestrians. Not very relaxing. The crosswalks were also poorly marked as signs for them were set back off the sidewalk from the road making them not as obvious to the traffic as they could have been had they been placed closer to the road. Only about half the drivers would stop if we were in a crosswalk and half that did stop seemed annoyed we made them stop. We loved the town just not these aspects of it.

We have company from out of town and wanted to drive into Skippack this weekend and shop around and have dinner. Unfortunately, half of the stores are closed and the Hotel Fiscole we wanted to eat at didn't answer the phone so we ended up at The Dutch which is just around the corner from Skippack Village. Dutch was good but not what were were planning on. Have no clue whose idea it was to close half the village down on one of the busiest weekends of the year.

Skippack Pike will take you straight through the heart of this lovely town. Named after a creek it is usually active and vibrant. This time during an August weekend it was a bit quiet and not as lively as expected. Some restaurants with outdoor seating available were open but many establishments were closed, some busy take-outs. Still it was pleasant to stroll and explore, at least window shop. The village is interesting. They are known for their vibrant First Fridays. Definitely a destination by itself and to be visited again.

This gift store is unbelievable! It seems small from the outside but weaves around inside to deliver hundreds of gifts. There is unique pottery from Poland; kitchen gadgets you don't often see, even at BB&B; purses, glassware, aprons, tea towels (cheaper than what you see in Peddlar's Village, Lahaska, PA - just up the road), coffee, unique mugs/tea cups; seasonal decor items; oh but the list continues. The most important point is that the items are not cheesy, nor look cheap. But, the prices are reasonable! You need at least an hour in this store. I do have pictures to post...I'm looking to see where to click! Then you can see for yourselves how neat this store is.

A vibrant charming historic town, dating back to the 1600's, now crammed with door to door artisan, craft & antique shops & a wide choice of terrific restaurants. Ongoing calendar of community activities & fairs as well, although it's hard to believe (& disappointing) there doesn't seem to be a bookstore?!

Went for their illuminare night and was a bit disappointed. It sounded like a bigger event than it is, listing as hundred stores. It felt like just a few stores open and mostly thrift stores kind of feel. The main area had a road (Skippack Pike) running through it and it feels like you'll turn into road kill if you want to go to the stores right across the street. Ate at Basta Pasta which was delicious. I say just plan to have dinner there, nothing interesting.

I was told that I missed “Skippack Days” that were on Saturday and Sunday of Columbus Weekend. I tried to shop around ON Columbus Day Monday. I found only a few stalwart shopkeepers who opened for business. I was disappointed that the others didn’t choose to capitalize on a day that others might have had off from work. Also, I was unprepared for the truck traffic that speeds along the road that travels along the shopping district. I found the traffic to speed with disregard for posted limits. Be careful out there.

A good small town shopping experience in a genuine small time. Shop after shop of goods and crafts as well as food items and restaurants. Walk from shop to shop. Lots of locals with their goods, too. Friendly people. Good way to enjoy a casual day.
