It was the year 1829 when Americans were getting used to their newly elected president, Andrew Jackson, that 23-year old David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and started a brewery.

Originally named the Eagle Brewery, today the Yuengling pride, symbolic of the American Eagle. Each Yuengling label bears the eagle trademark chosen by young David Yuengling so long ago.

Previously located on Centre Street, current site of Pottsville's after only two years of operation. A new brewery was then constructed on Mahantongo Street, where operations

continue today.

The brewery remains family operated by Richard "Dick" Yuengling, Jr. and his daughters are being groomed as the sixth generation.

Awesome tour, great history, very well done. Go on a weekday so you can see the brewery in production. Also the crowds will be less. Very informative, even saw the owner walking around. They give you two small cups of brew at the end, worth the wait. Very neat shop with many items to chose from, plus the beer has... More

I have to start by saying that Yuengling is my favorite beer, so when my dad and I were planning our trip to Pennsylvania, I definitely mapped out the trip to include a trip to the brewery. Parking can be a little tough, however, we found a place on the side of the building, which they said is fine till... More

We visited Pottsville solely to visits yuengling. We did the brewery tour Friday night and ran the 5k Saturday morning. It is an awesome place and a great tour, our guide jj was fun and gave us a lot of facts. And of course we enjoyed free samples after the tour. The gift shop is cool too, lots of stuff... More

Rode up with the Baltimore RAT Pack a Triumph motorcycle group. This was the 3rd time we've visited over the years. Tour is pretty much the same except that it now starts across the street in the old Yuengling Ice Cream factory. It's been transformed into a new gift shop, pub and also features more information about the company and... More

It's all about the timing! We got there 5 minutes before the tour started. Enough time to look around the gift shop. It appeared new. Great displays & goods for sale. The woman in the tour was very friendly. The brewery was closed so it was very quiet & we got to see it all from the caves to the... More

Learning the history of the brewery and seeing the plant when it is in the production mode. Tasting the different beers that they brew.

Great, informative tour! Deeper appreciation for Yuengling based off the history we learned! Free samples at the end, I really liked the India Pale Lager. Would highly recommend getting a growler at the end of your tour!

I challenge you to find a cooler brewery tour. You start out walking through the cave that was hand-dug into the side of a mountain, used in the 1800's to keep the beer cool without refrigeration. Then you move through America's oldest brewery and see how beer goes from a truck full of grains all the way through the bottling/canning... More

We have been wanting to do this tour for a long time. We learned a lot about the brewery and the rich history of the Yuengling family. It was neat to walk through the hand-dug caves and to image how hard people had to work to make a living in the late 1800s. The bottling section of the plant was... More
