It was the year 1829 when Americans were getting used to their newly elected president, Andrew Jackson, that 23-year old David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and started a brewery.

Originally named the Eagle Brewery, today the Yuengling pride, symbolic of the American Eagle. Each Yuengling label bears the eagle trademark chosen by young David Yuengling so long ago.

Previously located on Centre Street, current site of Pottsville's after only two years of operation. A new brewery was then constructed on Mahantongo Street, where operations

continue today.

The brewery remains family operated by Richard "Dick" Yuengling, Jr. and his daughters are being groomed as the sixth generation.

We have visited the brewery in Tampa and the brewery in Pottsville, and recommend both, but the Pottsville location is the winner. The fact that it's a million years old and built into the side of a mountain, make for an awesome tour. The surrounding area of narrow streets, on near 45-degree inclines, made for an experience I've never had... More

This is a must stop for anyone that appreciates the history of beer. Start off in the museum and gift shop then when a group of 45 had formed head over to the brewery for a historic tour. The tour left me wanting more but our guide Andy was phenomenal and clearly lives Yuengling and what she does. Be prepared... More

Saturday afternoon tour, about an hour, tour guide was awesome, provided tons of information and was able to field questions from the group. After the tour you walk back to the visitor center and get two samples.......choice wisely!! I also tried the ice cream that they make & sell (which was made & sold during prohibition to stay operating). Parking... More

This was so neat it felt even better to be walking in such history. And to get the whole back story. Was wonderful. I went for my lover but left a lover of the beer myself. I love how they have a few beers you can only get in PA. You can bring kids but idk if I recommend it... More

Awesome tour, great history, very well done. Go on a weekday so you can see the brewery in production. Also the crowds will be less. Very informative, even saw the owner walking around. They give you two small cups of brew at the end, worth the wait. Very neat shop with many items to chose from, plus the beer has... More

I have to start by saying that Yuengling is my favorite beer, so when my dad and I were planning our trip to Pennsylvania, I definitely mapped out the trip to include a trip to the brewery. Parking can be a little tough, however, we found a place on the side of the building, which they said is fine till... More
