This is a really cool place for the kids to play in - it's not meant to be that - but that's what it is. You can sit at the bottom on the large boulders and let your feet hang in the water and watch the boats go by or you can get in with the kiddos and splash around.

You will see many children easing in the falls of the Water Steps. There is a pathway that goes along the river. You can here the game at PNC Stadium. In fact, while we were walking, one of the baseball balls flew by us into the river.

Fun in the summer. Small kids love it. Free and a beautiful view of downtown. One of my favorite places in Pittsburgh. If you are on the north sure it is hard not to stop by there, hang out, and enjoy the view.

We've been here quite a few times. Most recently to watch the regatta. They have many family friendly events which are really good. There's always interesting people and it's very safe.

OK so first of all, there are signs that say stay out of the water. OK its been said, now lets talk about all the fun for kids, couples on a stroll to cool their feet, and others to have IN the water anyhow. The water is chlorinated and always clear and they really do a great job of trying... More

We visited the Water Steps one evening while in Pittsburg. It was very enjoyable and relaxing. I took my two year old and we climbed from top to bottom and back several times. The water was clear and clean. The area felt safe. I would definitely recommend taking time to spend an evening in this area playing on the steps... More

We spent the day at the science center which closes at 5 and we didn't want to go home during rush hour traffic. So we do decided to walk a half mile down the scenic north shore trail to the water steps. You have to be careful in the water steps because there are lights all over with grates covering... More

One afternoon I took my nieces and nephews here for a splash in the water. The steps look really nice at night as well. I saw two teens there shooting photos was pretty cool.

Not great in the winter months but it allows you to go in during the warmer months! Great place for kids to play
