I'm not typically a history buff, but walking through and exploring this submarine was really fascinating. It's definitely very cramped, so it's not recommended for those who are handicapped or not able to move around well. We bought admission to the Carnegie Science Center, so...More

The tour is self-guided, although there are knowledgeable employees available to answer questions. The tour provides a glimpse of the conditions on board, particularly the close quarters in which the sailors had to operate. Note how cramped the heads (toilets) and showers are. There's little...More

You can walk self-guided through the entire length of this vessel and it is very well appointed to make it look as if it might still be active around the WWII era. You do have to climb the ladders and step over and squat through...More

History. Interesting site-vintage decor, all authentic to the times. Kids rushed through a bit, but lots to observe and check out.

A former U.S. Navy sailor, Art, was our "host" in the first compartment of the sub. He was terrific! Although he didn't serve on a sub, he knew just about everything there is to know about the U.S. Requin. We took our time and stepped...More

If you've never been in a small submarine, this exhibit is worth a visit. The way the interior is crammed so as to be functional is fantastic. Just looking at the multitude of levers, dials, knobs, etc. is overwhelming. Pity the poor sailor who had...More

We were met by very knowledgeable former Navy men who explained every detail of life aboard a sub in WWII. They answered all of our questions and didn't rush us through. Funny, but watched the movie U-571 not long after tour and understood alot more...More

Yes, you can stay as long as you like. Go by sometime when it’s not too crowded so that you can admire the ship with minimal distractions.

It's free with admission to the Science Center. I am not sure you can buy admission to *only* the USS Requin.
