If you are interested in the history of the Pittsburgh area, especially the details of the old Fort Pitt before, during, and after the revolutionary war, this place might be interesting. Otherwise, not recommended. The building is NOT part of the fort, and the exhibits didn't really do much for me overall. Few actual items.

This was a very enjoyable way to learn some of the city’s history. It was large enough to be educational but also small enough to be able to visit in an hour or so.

Even though I was a history major in college, my knowledge of the French and Indian war is a little lacking. This museum is not only well curated, but very informative. Right in the Point Park and well worth your time.

We worried about being rushed in an hour but that seems about right. I great history of Fort Pitt and the conflicts between the English, French and Indigenous. Measured and helpful in understanding, good attention to the Indegenous component which we appreciated. Some nice art. A few videos where you can rest your feet and have a change of pace. A delightful welcome and conversation with the front desk staff. Also great to see such a peron reading a great big thick history book as he waited for customers. Some of the same history is covered in the Heniz museum. We enjoyed both but if you had to choose I would choose the latter as it has so much more. Lots of space, which always helps me absorb material.

Friendly, informative staff. Great way to learn the early history of the area. Not thrilling, but a good way to spend an hour, especially if it is raining during a walk of Point SP.

My visit to the Fort Pitt Museum and blockhouse reminded me of the history of the settlement of the Pittsburgh area and the Point
between the three rivers. It isinteresting tothink ofhow thepowers atthetime disputed this region and setthecourse forthe future of America.

The Fort Pitt Museum isn't where it supposedly is located. If you take an Uber, it's a good distance from the closest drop-off point. Signage isn't particularly great either. Basically, it's hidden behind an highway overpass.

Anyways, the museum is quite small. The lower level has a few signs and exhibits. Upstairs is the real collection but it isn't organized that well. Most of the exhibits seem to be artifacts from other historic sights (not Fort Pitt), recreations, or artistic interpretations (paintings, photos, etc.) There wasn't a lot of archeological artifacts from Fort Pitt itself.

The history lesson is important but the actual museum is disappointing compared to Fort Ligonier.

Enjoyable (except parking) and very challenging in discussing the atrocities of our history with Native Americans. Touch on small side but worth esp if you do Heinz History center and ticket thus included over that day and next.
