Beautiful waterfall and short walk to the river with equally beautiful views. The scenery down by the river was like you'd been transported to some place tropical. The trillium were beautiful and a range is shades from white to purple.

We got lost in the beginning. We followed the sign on the road and it took us somewhere else. I found the place by following Google maps.
Parking is very limited. We got there as soon as someone was leaving. Right after we arrived, other people could not find parking and left.
Once you park, follow the path to go down the stairs and in 5 minutes you will see the falls. They are very pretty. At the bottom of the stairs, there are many many rocks. I did not dare and went up the stairs to the lookout.
I almost fell on a wet rock, luckily I had my walking stick.

Well we were lucky as the spring rains increased the water flow of the falls. We parked in the lot off the highway and walked down the steps to the falls. Very mesmerizing and breathtaking as the mist and light create a beautiful scene.
We did not walk the trails as epic flooding. What a gem.

Water levels are low so was just a small waterfall right now. But it’s a quick and easy walk from the parking lot so was worth the stop. Some people with small kids were playing in the water. Nice quick stop for us.

Decided to go see this on the way from Black Water to Pittsburg. A lot of pig trails google maps took us down. The falls itself is nice. Have to park next to the road and walk up to the falls. A lot of people that I felt like was disrespecting the area.

This is a must see place in Ohiopyle State Park. The parking lot is extremely small and road parking can be difficult to find. I would suggest the the state park run a shuttle from the visitor’s center to Cucumber Falls. This would improve the experience.

Water falls take on a whole new dimension in winter. Part of the falls was frozen and dripping with huge icicles. The plunge basin was a pile of crystals of ice. There were ice steps up to and behind the falls; please stay close to the ledge as when we were there, a huge piece of icicle fell off on someone’s head!
The steps going down to the falls were packed with snow-please be careful! Probably thirty people there on a Sat. Afternoon in Feb.; after major snowfall.
Just beautiful work by Mother Nature!

Small parking lot to accommodate a lot of visitors on a beautiful fall day. We had to park a long the road below and walk up which really wasn't terrible. There is a short walk down a stone path to get a good view of the falls. Not much water when we visited but we haven't had much rain. Would love to go back on another trip when it is warmer out and walk to the bottom and maybe during the week when there may be less foot traffic.

Small parking lot (fits like 10-15 cars only? I might be over estimating!) to the falls so if you go on a Saturday, expect to park farther and hike in. There is no sidewalk or trail so be careful! It is also quite steep of a descent even with stairs so it is not accessible by wheelchair or stroller. Leave the stroller in the car! Wear shoes that can get wet and be prepared to climb as there are a lot of boulders to hop around on to get a closer look at the falls! It is very close to the Natural Waterslide so plan both at the same time!

A must see when you go to OhioPyle, the falls are beautiful and much larger than I thought they would be. Just a very short walk from the parking lot, they have steps going down and easy access to going behind the falls and all around the lower falls area.
Beautiful any time of year!
While you are here, be sure to save time just to walk around OhioPyle, one of the most scenic places in Pennsylvania. Walk along the river and enjoy the view!

Yes. You can. This time of year the water level is lower and it is definitely a possibility. But, even when the water level is high you still can. You just get more mist.

Yes, you will need to bring your own picnic things, find a spot off the trail, there are lots of large flat rocks between the falls and the road bridge. You will need to carry your “stuff” in and out. Not difficult, just stating the obvious.

How far is the walk to cucumber falls from the campground. Do you pass the water slides along the way?
Written 16 August 2017
Yes you pass the entrance to the waterfall - but it is a decent walk. I recommend driving to cucumber falls at a non peak time; unless you are not on any time limits and okay walking uphill and such.

Is this kid friendly? We have a 7 month old grand baby that we would put in a carry on.
Written 31 July 2017
Yes. Most of the trail down to the falls are stairs or well maintained paths. It is a short walk if you park next to the falls trail instead of the big parking lot at the Intersection down at the main highway.

Do you have to hike in? If you are handicapped is it accessible?
Written 10 April 2017
It is not wheelchair accessible. Ohiopyle falls are.
Written 1 August 2017
Yes, we saw dogs when we were there (on leases of course). The only thing I would mention is that there are stairs that need to be descended to get to the falls themselves.
Written 30 August 2016
How east would it be to get a wheel chair to the top of the stairs?
Written 26 February 2015
to the top of the falls would be relatively easy - there are a few wide steps and a nice landing to view the entire basin, but it will take a little bit of effort. You're in PA, so someone will likely offer to help if you need it, though.

We just recently went to the Ohiopyle Natural rock slides. If you are not taking young kids, and take it slow yes you can go. Beware the stairs are slippery even if they have no ice on them, as well as all the rocks are covered in a layer of ice. So we couldn't get close to the water, but it was still amazingly beautiful and we enjoyed going immensely. If you do venture there follow these safety tips:
Watch your step.
Take it slow
Do not assume the ice is thick enough to stand on.
Do not go alone!! If there is a accident cell phone reception is poor.
If you do go alone make sure you tell someone where you are going in case of a accident, because not a lot of people go in the Winter Months.
The beauty of it in the Winter took our breath away. Good Luck and stay safe.
