Best Local Art Gallery you can visit for free.

Very classy settings with a variety of paintings. We have visited a couple of times just to browse and also to attend a friend's wedding there at the art gallery.

I love history. I love places that alive and real but also historical and Merrick Art Gallery fits the bill. The hobby of a nineteenth century industrialist has become a haven for art lovers. There is a wonderful Hudson River painters display! This is also a terrific spot for a wedding, shower or special occasion. In the warm months, the... More

A little known treasure of art assembled by industrialist Edward Dempster Merrick in 1880 is found in the river town of New Brighton, PA. We spent a wonderful day looking at a surprisingly large assembly of oil paintings. Open to the public and with no admission charge, it is definitely worth a visit. It was suggested to check ahead since... More

We had our wedding photos here and it was gorgeous! They came out great and we were so happy with them. (I would suggest more options and opinions for others when doing pictures there, make sure to travel the building thoroughly and get an idea of what you want) I used to go here as a kid and I have... Interesting history in the Gallery and an amazing place to visit during the Christmas holiday. They have decorations dating back decades with a nice assortment of trees and other historical items.

I loved this art gallery. This is a very old building, built in 1880 with a "new" mirror addition in 1901 and it is just beautiful. I want to live there! The courtyard and grand staircase inside are magnificent. I can just imagine holding a fancy party here in the early 1900s... The lady inside was very helpful and we... More

We were attending a family event in near-by Cranberry (a strip mall-laden bland suburb) when we found out about the gallery on Tripadvisor. It's an idiosyncratic collection reflecting the founder's taste--everything from Hudson River School paintings to seascapes to the art of the European Grand Tour. As noted, it's a step back in time to the pre-Impressionists and reminds me... More

Hidden away in quiet New Brighton, Beaver County, about 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, is the Merrick Art Gallery. Other reviews have told the story of Edward Merrick and his spending of his fortune on gorgeous art of the 19th century -- both European and American. There is much to be seen here -- spend some time with each painting,... More

Located in the small town of New Brighton, Pennsylvania, this facility has been in existence since the early 1900's and has been the benefactor of the Merrick Family a local family with deep ties to the community. Special shows are presented at various times during the year as well as the Christmas season. This facility is well worth visiting and... More

Edward Merrick was a wealthy industrialist living in the manufacturing town of New Brighton, PA during the nineteenth century. He was interested in art and traveled to Europe to acquire a collection of paintings from who he deduced were the most famous painters of the age. Little did he know that a revolution in art was just about to turn... More
