The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, established in 1861, is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. As of August 2007, the site is under new ownership. The bakery and store have been completely renovated and are now operated once again by the Sturgis family. Visitors can tour the original pretzel bakery, see soft pretzels being made by hand, and find pretzels baked by the oldest pretzel baking family in the United States.

My girlfriend and I visited here on a trip to Lititz and were pleasantly surprised! This small little bakery showed how pretzels where made here over 100 years ago. There is a small demonstration where you learn how to twist the dough to make the pretzels, and then how they used to cook them through the years. There is a... More

Friendly staff and tour guide. Our kids enjoyed making the pretzels. The tour is nice and informative, while being short, so it's easy to do with kids along. Their pretzels are delicious, and we especially loved the peanut butter topped ones!

We stopped by while on vacation. The staff were so helpful and gave samples which lead to our purchases. Great place to visit!

You wouldn't find this if you hadn't picked up a flyer in the motel. On a side street in an old house. Had second thoughts when I walked in, small but glad we paid for the tour. Very interesting and you get to twist your own pretzel. They give you a small bag and discount bigger ones. Even have some... More

Take a tour of the old style pretzel factory. Make your own pretzel before you go into the oven area. See how pretzels are made by hand. Take a tour of the old oven area and see how they baked the hand made pretzels. You can purchase pretzel products on the way out.

We had a fun time visiting the pretzel factory and practicing the art of pretzel-making. For the price of $3.00 per adult, we got plenty for our money. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and engaging as she told us about Julius Sturgis and his family, and the history and art of pretzel-making. Who would have thought there was religious significance... More

My husband, his Sister & I took the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Factory Tour. The cost is $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for children. There are no senior or other discounts posted either on their website or in the storefront where tickets are purchased. There is free parking on the side of the building. The entrance is on E Main Street which... More

One of my childhood memories is making pretzels at this bakery with my family so that should tell you its definitely worth the visit! Because I was so young I never knew where it was, but it all came back to me when I visited last week-- and my mom confirmed if it has a big plastic pretzel outside that's... More

We stopped by on a whim on the way back to our B&B. They have warm fresh baked soft pretzels for purchase. The shop offers samples of the different products they offer. I purchased two big bags of pretzels to go home, cheddar and plain. If you are in town I would recommend you stop.

Visited here 17 years ago and returned on vacation in Oct 2015. Didn't disappoint in 1998 and doesn't dissapoint now in 2015. Lots of good choices and yummy treats. Try the chocolate covered peanut butter infused pretzels if they are sampling them. They were da bomb! Got me some of them along with a few pretzels. Ummmm good!
