In 1954, the play, “Plain and Fancy” was a smash hit on Broadway. The Broadway hit drew a spotlight as the play was featured around the Amish lifestyle and their home: Lancaster County. This was the tipping point of a tourist boom the progressively grew from 25,000 annual visitors to 2,000,000 by 1960. Due to the increase of tourists and invasion of privacy of the Amish, Lancaster-local Adolph Neuber believe that there should be a place to accurately learn about the Amish, while respecting their privacy. An Amish family opened their home and property to visitors for tours. Since 1955, The Amish Farm and House has been connecting the Amish community and the public.

Tour Lancaster County’s Amish Farm and House. Opened nearly 60 years ago, The Amish Farm and House has hosted travelers from around the world visiting Lancaster County. Experience Lancaster County’s Premier Amish Attraction with our farm and house tours.

Cows

Lots and lots of cows!!! The Amish people may work hard but they live very good. The dairy business has done them well. The one down side about them is they're a bit prejudice.

For $10 the house and farm tour are interesting and worth an hour if you are in the area. The plastic siding and fences are an indication that "authentic" is an overstatement, but it is a representation. Easy to park and close to other attractions.

I wanted to do a day trip from where I live. The Amish House and Farm is about a two hour drive from where I live in Maryland. I didn't make reservations in advance but there were enough slots available for the time I got there. I learned so much on the bus tour. A view of the beautiful homes,... More

We really enjoyed our time there! The gentleman that was whittling wood was absolutely the most kindest human I've ever met. The guides are separably knowledgeable and added more to our visit and we could've ever imagined! We absolutely love this place and the people are spectacular.

Having already done quite a bit backroads driving, we opted for just the general tour. The guide was knowledgeable and had a pleasant demeanor. We left feeling like we had learned much about the Amish culture. The animals were cute, and we got to see a sheep shearing. Neat experience. Recommend.

My husband and I were passing through Lancaster and checked TripAdvisor to discover what attractions we would visit. We are both delighted that we chose the Amish Farm and House bus and house tour. Although there was some overlap in the content of tours, the two guides had distinct speaking styles and provided complementary insights into Amish life. We took... More

Starting in the house, we had David as our guide. Very informative. Then we had the 90 minute bus ride through the country with two stops for souvenirs etc Then back to the back of the house for a self guided farm tour. Total time about three hours. This tour gives you a very interesting picture of Amish life at... More

This is a must do for anyone visiting Lancaster. I thought I knew a lot about about the Amish. I learned a lot more after the tour. The farm had a large variety of animals. I even got to ride a scooter and talk with an older Amish woman in the one room school house. I had a wonderful experience.

We participated in the premium package of Tours. The countryside bus tour was amazing. Very informative and the tour guide provided an opportunity to buy authentic Amish crafts and food. The house tour although informative , they booked too many people. I believe it was over 30 people and one tour guide. Rooms were very very crowded and not enough... More
