- th.Tuckerton, New Jersey66 contributionsAt long last! This theater could rival any NYC theater. What a beautiful venue! "Simply Rotten" was so funny and professionally done. I wish I lived closer than 3 hours away so I could take advantage of more plays. The volunteers are very proud and helpful and encourage their patrons to walk around before the play begins to appreciate the beauty of the building. I was somewhat concerned about parking but it proved to be no problem at all. Plenty of parking less than 1 block away. Thankful I finally made it there!!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 September 2023

We live over 1 1/2 hrs. away, so we try to parlay out stay into a couple of shows in the area. This time we were in town for the production of "9 to 5" and it was excellent. The theater, itself, is beautiful, have undergone a major restoration in the 1990s re-opening in 1995. The theater features a couple of venues for the various productions that take place here. The show was magnificent and could easily rival those in theaters in NYC. During this time the businesses that treat others with respect and consideration will be rewarded. This does not apply to the Fulton. I have asked for a refund as we will not be attending the performance which will probably be cancelled. We are seniors we need a refund now to pay unexpected bills because of the recent changes in all our lives. Sorry but I can’t afford a donation at this time and a future gift certificate will not feed us now. Over the years we have supported them, they should show us some consideration too.

The description of the play "Spelling Bee" described it as a "heartfelt" story, etc. That description suggested to us wholesome family entertainment. For the first half of the play, this was generally the case, but then the wheels came off. The script and lyrics went suddenly into the gutter with vulgar inuendo followed by vulgar lyrics, culminating in blasphemy, which is when we took our leave. We wished we had followed others who left earlier, during the vulgar. At any rate, we won't be returning, which is sad because we loved Cinderella a couple of months earlier and have thoroughly enjoyed other productions in the past. We are certainly aware that there are those who desire this kind of entertainment, but the least you can do is give adequate, straightforward descriptions of content so patrons are not disappointed. We would have saved our money.

The theatre was gorgeous and pristine. We were very impressed. White Christmas was good but not great the sound was a bit overwhelming. Certain actors were ear piercingly loud. They also were kind of nuts about no pics. You can take pics on Broadway but not here? So weird.
Suggestion would be to make an area afterward for family to take photos together. They had a red curtain downstairs and it was a bit boring. Would’ve been great with a few Christmas decorations.

Although we enjoyed the show, the audience was ear piercingly loud. The person next to me was wildly clapping while yelling whoo hoo in my ear. His arms crossed over my entire body. I went to the theater to enjoy a live performance and appreciate the actors with applause. Many theater goers are now expressing their feelings with yelling so loudly that it ruins the experience for others.

This is a beautiful, ornate old theatre located in center city Lancaster, and a great place to see a show with quality performances. You can easily see the stage from any seat in the house and they have a lovely and spacious foyer where you can get snacks or a cocktail. I highly recommend it for a show.

I just saw the Fulton Theatre's production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. This production was hilarious, touching and the acting was tremendous. I don't remember laughing this hard at anything in a very long time. The cast was tremendous, their voices were beautiful, and the choreography spot on. I have seen a number of productions at the Fulton, but none as funny or tender as this one. Whoever cast this show deserves kudos.

Front row seats to Jersey Boys was such a treat for my wife and I!
PRO: Exceptional show, acting, story, music. I was concerned I was going to be blasted by speakers in the front row. Not a problem. Great acoustics and levels.
CON: None!
Looking at the theater, any seat you get will be ideal to watch any show they have!

Can you tell me if the railing blocks your view if you're sitting in the first row mezzanine?
Written 15 July 2023
First, the Fulton is a relatively small theatre, so I never feel that any seat is too far away. That said, my favorite seats are the front row of the mezzanine. I am 5'7" and I have no issues with the railing.

I have sat in almost all of the Fulton seats having been in shows there and now a patron. The seats at the very top of the balcony are steep and you really do look straight down, but the view is all encompassing. Take binocs, The view is great. Seats are not too spacious, but for the price it is worth it.

I'm confused. Why did you gift only one star for such a positive review?
Written 11 December 2018
Obviously I made a mistake. I LOVE the Fulton. I will have to figure out how to change it. Thanks.
