This is an interesting bridge with a significant history. However there is not much around here so I wouldn't make a special trip. The walkway above the bridge was closed to pedestrians when we were here. It looks like the parks service has made significant investment here including a viewing platform, parking area and restrooms. If you are in Pennsylvania,... More

I had no idea how they moved coal prior to the day of the railroad. This was very interesting mental picture of how it was accomplished and the pure genius of those who designed and built the canals and bridge. Interesting little museum is on the property that depicts family life on a coal barge - not a pleasant one... More

The Roebling Bridge was originally a canal boat aqueduct, adapted for cars - one way at a time! Fun to walk across the bridge and read about its history. Cars travel along what was the bottom of the aqueduct, and pedestrians walk higher up, where the mules pulled the boats.

There are small parking lots on both the PA and NY side of the bridge. We parked on the PA side. There is a small seating area and bathroom. The view is very nice of the bridge and river. We found a small table and sat and ate lunch. The walk over the bridge is short, but the views are... More

We stayed close to the bridge on our family vacation. As such we ended up using it numerous times to cross the river. I'm glad we stopped and walked across it. It provides beautiful views of the river and area. Also, when fishing the river we discovered a trail that runs along the river. We accessed the trail below this... More

Cross the bridge and then park at the end of bridge. A sign tells how the Aqueduct was used for boat traffic to gain access to the Delaware River. Very interesting and it is worth the time to stop and learn what it was used for.

The bridge is in view of The Roebling Inn. The bridge history is interesting and can be driven or walked across.
