We decided to take a tour of the old jail. I'm glad we did. It has a lot of history, some dark, but very interesting to see how prisoners were kept, "back in the day!" It is all still as it was left when closed,...More

A little bit of a wait to go in, but I can see why. It was really interesting, and creepy too. Can't believe they used this jail until 1995. We walked up the hill from the bottom of Broad St, very relaxing walk., of course...More

Thanks for the nice comments on your tour of the Old Jail . Always glad to hear a visitor not only enjoyed the tour, but learned a bit of history. See you next year "in Jail".

I've been to the jail a couple of times and it always is spooky. The dungeon area especially so. The guides tell good stories and are knowledgeable. Call a head because the tours are seasonal and only on the weekends.More

It's a jail, kinda creepy. Short 30 min tour, not extremely interesting. We didn't have much of a wait but by the time we left people we're already booked for the tour an hour later. Definitely not worth waiting for.More

Sorry you were disappointed in your tour of the Old Jail. Yes, it is kind of creepy, but a jail is supposed to be creepy. Many people visit us 4 and 5 times and tell us they find something new to look at each time.Do...More

The tour began on time. The jail is very interesting and well worth the time and price. You can't miss the famous handprint on the cell wall.

Thanks for your great comments on the Old Jail. Glad you enjoyed your tour and learned a bit more history of the coal mining industry and life in jail. See you in Jail - the Old Jail, of course.

This is something to do one time as others have noted. We were in Jim Thorpe for the day and saw the sign for this as we drove into town. The jail is small, but very interesting considering prisoners were here as recently as 1995!...More

I agree with the reviewer who said that the tour was a one and done place. We enjoyed our tour, but there wasn't really anything special about it. Our tour guide did ask if anyone had any questions, but stuck to her memorized speech. It...More

Glad you enjoyed your tour of the Old Jail. Yes, the guides do have a memorized 40 minute script. That's so that each visitor gets the same important information with nothing left out. And I admit that after giving the tour 5 times a day...More

Really enjoyed our visit here but it's a once and done type of place. The person doing the tour did a great job and the cost was fair.More

This jail was worth visiting. It was disturbing to think it only closed it's prison doors to inmates in the early 70's ! Parking is an issue if you want to park close by. We recommend it.More

Thanks for recommending a visit to the Old Jail Museum. Glad you learned a bit of history while enjoying your tour. The Old Jail actually held prisoners until 1995. Yes, parking can be a problem on a very busy day in all of Jim Thorpe....More
