Great overview of the history of Jim Thorpe. If you want to know about local economics, tourism, and characters, be sure to stop in. Martha, the docent on staff for our visit was so knowledgeable and helpful. The museum is a definite must see.

Low-key museum with lots of information about the town and the man well-displayed. Our docent was excellent and spent extra time answering our questions.

This is a small museum, not very interactive, but informational nonetheless. Be sure to see the exhibit about the town's namesake, Jim Thorpe, and his athletic and Olympic success. Visitors can also learns about the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company that ultimately became the railroad....More

What a great museum, and it only cost $5. Very knowledgeable docent, and so much factual information about Jim Thorpe.

Worth stopping there, especially when it’s too rainy to do outdoor activities. We enjoyed all the artifacts.

The tour starts with about a 15 minute video, which is interesting and informative but could use some updating and better technology. The exhibits range from mediocre to good. It provides a nice background of Mauch Chunk/Jim Thorpe, but not sure it's worth the price...More

Needs an update. Video should be updated. Along with displays. Lots of good information but needs a fresh look and be more user friendly. Too much tedious reading. Could present their material using better technology and displays.

Very interesting place to visit while in Jim Thorpe. Had no idea how the town received its name, and the articles and history was very enlightening.

Not crazy about this excursion. We watched a 12 min DVD on on how this town was renamed Jim Thorpe. Several pics of Jim Thorpe himself. Some history on mining...I just wish it had more to offer.
