As far as Dams go this is certainly a dam. It’s a little uneventful unless the river is in Flood and the water is going over the spillway. Then this is a must see attraction.

This is a large body of water and it is quite full and deep in places. We set off from the carpark and paddled about 5klm up the Shoalhaven river into the gorge. Its spectacular. I was targetting Australian Bass and I trolled the banks...More

Nice peaceful spot with resident kangaroos. Watch out for the wildlife on the drive there and watch out too for the huge potholes.

My husband and I visited here today for a lovely peaceful picnic with kangaroos and native birds (willie wag tails and magpies) coming right up to our picnic blanket. Apart from a few people canoeing the place was practically deserted! You are able to walk...More

Decided to drive down to the dam on a recommendation and did we have a good time ! There were wallabies all over the place and although the fish elevator was not in operation it was still worth the drive.

You can get on the dam but then you can't see the dam. The lake is beautiful though. There is a picnic area but does it worth to drive 20km from Kangaroo Valley?

We were recommended to go to the dam by the helpful lady in the Kangaroo Valley general store. The views are spectacular and the water was great for swimming

The Dam itself is scenic but not especially so. Its a nice drive in good weather if you ignore the roadkill (see below) but once you get there its debatable whether or not this is worth a 40 km round trip from Kangaroo Valley. Its...More

My original aim to go to Kangaroo Valley was to see a wombat in its natural habitat. Driving to Tallowa Dam my wish was fulfilled, but wasn't on the way I wanted to. We found two roadkills. Both times we stopped, hoping, that maybe we...More

Definitely not. Keep the area dog free to leave the kangaroos and other wildlife happy in their environment. Take your dog somewhere else
