They lovely young lass at the information center was very helpful and friendly .She really promoted her region and steered us in the right direction . There is a museum there as well but at $10 a head we skipped it .

An excellent museum, showcasing Cobar’s history. Take your time and read the interesting personal stories of people’s lives in early days. The mining history is well documented and the video with sub titles, explaining the process of mining, is excellent. Don’t miss the outdoor displays....More

We hummed and hared about going through the museum and then spent nearly 3 hours in there. It is an absolute credit to Cobar and should be a must do if you ever get the chance. Plenty of stuff from the good old days and...More

We went on a week road trip from Sydney to Melbourne, Adelaide and home through the outback. This museum was well worth the stop. Everything was unfortunately closed in Broken Hill so we went to Cobar and the Monday morning before heading home we spent...More

Friendly advice about cobar and surrounds including local accommodation. There is a museum about cobar inside but there is a cost. Plenty of parking and a couple of tables with shade.

In a nutshell, if you are visiting Cobar, the Heritage Centre will give you a strong appreciation for the history in the area and the Pioneer spirit which formed the community. A must see is the Far West Children’s train carriage at the rear of...More
