Unique formation views from above not the beach too many photographers hanging around so a walking track along the cliff above offered great views from viewing platforms for an old and doddering fool like me.

We had been looking for this viewing point for a while. Google earth places Horse Head Rock at Camel Rock! From the carpark follow the council signs north along the coast - great walk and after around a Km you will find it.

Initial signage helpful to set off in direction but ongoing signage led us to rambling along the side of the cliff for a while being unsure which rockformation it was,or if maybe it had eroded into the ocean. Alas found it and was impressed with it and the general scenery, would recommend it to others

The walk is a nice easy to follow trail, but it does not tell you that the walk is Horsehead Rock!!! Drive to Camel Rock which is also nice, and then at the Northern end of the carpark is a track that leads off and up the hill. The walk is nice, relatively easy (if you are OK with hills). Horsehead Rock viewing platform is about 1.5km away, but well worth it. If you continue on for about another 0.5km there is another nice view over the lagoon and beach.

Horsehead Rock is over 500 million years old and spectacular. Definitely a great walk and well worthwhile.

You can either view Horse Head Rock from the bush trail above with good viewing platforms or from the beach. You park at Camel Head surf beach and head via Camel Rock on the sand & over the rock shelfs or take the path up the hillside. But this beach access is only safe to do at low tide as on a rising tide you are at threat from wave action and high tide is dangerous. We actually took the path from the Wallaga Lake end on a rainy & cold day but it was worth the effort to view the distinctive rock shape.

Took the trail heading UP the hills so we can see the Horse Head Rock from above. You can park the car all the way to Camel Rock Beach. Well signage so you won’t get lost. Lots of people with kids we met on the way up. Just mindful when you get to the cliffs side, for safety keep on the trails.
Highly recommended when you’re around the area.

Horse Head Rock - a must visit for every landscape photographer. A secluded location along the side of Camel rock beach. One will need to watch the tides before attempting to get there. Make sure you have good shoes and probably a good pair of gloves to support against the rugged rocks.
