We participated in a Medicine Walk program in July 2016 and it was wonderful. Our guide Craig Fox began the experience by including the entire group in a cleansing smudge ceremony. Then, as he gave us cedar tea, he explained the medicinal, ceremonial, and nutritional uses of many elements of the local flora. Finally, we walked together through the woods,... More

My fiancé, Don and I visited Manitoulin Island on July 4, 2016. It was an experience we will never forget. Our guide, Craig, was incredible. Not only was he very patient while he showed us how to make the dreamcatchers, but he was also very willing to answer our questions. The story of his people and their customs was fascinating.... We came to manitoulin for a week long camping trip. Thought we would try 'glamping' for a couple nights until we could figure out our surroundings and where to camp on the island. This place had such great reviews... Looking closer the reviews are for the hikes and guides not the "glamping" When arrived we noticed it was actually the... More

Booked the Medicine walk/tour not knowing what to expect but were we glad we did. This was the most enthralling and interesting thing I think I have ever done on holiday. Steve (our First nation guide) was captivating. He explained so many things to us that we didn't know. We learned so much in such a short time. My only... More

Learned many interesting things on Steve's medicine walk. Enjoyed the explanation of the Smudge ceremony, and hearing about different medicines and salves procured from the forest along with some personal stories and experiences. Particularly enjoyed his emphasis on birch trees and their many uses and showed us examples on its abuses too. Steve acknowledged he has embarked on a path... More

We took the sunset canoe tour with Steve, Shield and Cass. Steve shared many stories and taught us a great deal about the Native traditions, and told us Anishinabek stories. He introduced us to the Ojibwe language and as a highlight for us he drummed and sang Native songs as we were out on the water in our canoes. Thanks... More

We truly enjoyed the canoe tour led by superb guide Steve. All our family (with 2 kids, 8 and 13 y.o.) greatly enjoyed those few hours spend so close to our mother nature with all its energy and history, and lessons. Our guide Steve with his young assistant were the best proving us with historical and cultural background to this... More

We booked the 'Traditional Song and Drum' workshop. Our guide Steve was a superb cultural interpreter. We first participated in a smudging ceremony to cleanse our senses. Steve then recounted the story of how the Anishinaabek received the drum and drum songs. He then performed a few drum songs with a hand drum and taught us the basic dance steps,... More

Took my girls for a dream catcher workshop on a Friday afternoon. It was a very quiet place, I wasn't expecting to have an individual workshop, but that was a nice surprise. Our guide/teacher was a lovely man with a friendly smile and a great personality. My only critique is that the dreamcatcher itself was not the nicest; i.e. we... More
