With the help of a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Trinity House renovated the Engine Room at Lizard Lighthouse, retaining some of the old engines. It now also features new exhibition material, an audio visual room and a number of interactive displays. The Lizard Lighthouse Heritage Centre was officially opened in 2009 by HRH The Princess Royal.

The distinctive twin towers of Lizard Lighthouse mark the most southerly point of mainland Britain. See displays depicting Trinity House's history, housed in the original engine room. It was commissioned in 1752. For over 250 years, the lighthouse has provided a welcoming landfall light to vessels crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Tours of Lizard Lighthouse are organised under licence from the Corporation of Trinity House.

Their is a 15 minute walk along a gravel path to reach the Lighthouse. The twin towers mark the most southerly point of Great Britain & have been helping shipping for 260 years. The main exhibits are from Trinity House. You can climb the lighthouse but there are restrictions. Children must be at least 1.1 metres tall. Sensible footwear must... More

Not the longest tour, or the biggest museum so the £12 price (1 adult, 1 child) could prove a expensive for some. I really liked it. You don't get the chance to go to the top of a lighthouse often and my little girl was excited too. The tour guide was relaxed and good fun. The grounds and museum were... More

Bit steep admission considering the heritage center hasn't much to look at it's a room ! The light house tour is worth it if you are interested in something you may never see again in your life time esp a fully working lighthouse

We parked in lizard village and paid a donation, (pleased we did as the national trust charge £4 to park near the lighthouse.) The light house and heritage centre (owned and run by trinity NOT the national trust) is an amazing facility to be able to visit. So much information! We found it all truly fascinating. AND then to be... More

I know it should be obvious, but I've been reviewing for a couple of years now and I never fail to be surprised by the negative reviews from people who clearly aren't interested in the subject of the attraction they have visited! So be warned, if you want to know all about lighthouses, how Trinity House was formed (which governs... More

Our tour guide of the Lighthouse Jimmy was friendly and knowledgeable. It doesn't look much like a typical lighthouse and there isn't much else to see.

Stopped in on our walk along the coast and couldn't do the tour as had the dog with us. However had to write a review as the ice cream is just the best I've ever had! Taste test to help you decide went down a treat and the chocolate light house was great. Added to being able to see the... More

We went here 2 weeks ago. On the day we went it was quite foggy. The cog horns was blowing, what a mighty sound they make. The grounds are well kept ànd the centre is great, Lots of information for kids and grown ups. The tour up the lighthouse was good all the little facts are great. The lighthouse tour... More
