We had a very interesting and educational visit to this National Trust attraction, which is perched right on the edge of the cliffs, giving some spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. We took the guided tour and listened to some fascinating tales told by the...More

Great site well laid out with plenty to see. Enthusiastic volunteers with so much knowledge to share. We ran out of time after circa two hours. NB no NT tea room (clearly understand why) but had to do a detour to feed hungry family. Next...More

You've got to take the guided tour as their knowlrdge is incredible and the stories are amazing. Some very tragic and sad but it was a very hard way of life for men and women as well as young children. Not all mines were tin...More

Worth trying to get on a guided tour lasting about 90 minutes. There was a tragedy, which was very sad, but so much to learn about tin mining in Cornwall. Could perhaps have done with a small refreshment area. The working beam engine was the...More

An absolutely brilliant insight into the social and industrial heritage and history of West Cornwall with guides who really know their stuff. A humbling experience for anybody who thinks that they may be a little overworked or under appreciated. Not one of your National Trust...More

The guide was very knowledgeable and informative and the tour, though over an hour, was well worth doing. The opportunity to go underground was brilliant and brought to life how awful the conditions would have been. The beam engine itself is very impressive and testament...More

The enjoyment of this site comes from the enthusiasm of the volunteers. All friendly, helpful, informative. The guided tour is well worth doing but lasts rather longer than expected and therefore suited my husband better than me. Having a dog friendly site was very attractive...More

If you join a guided tour you will can down the shaft to the “Man Engine Tunnel” where 31 miners lost their lives. It’s also the only place where there’s a beam engine in steam. Well worth a visit.
