Absolutley love this pub. Its like going back to the Poldark days inside. Rickety tables beer barrels for tables old arm chairs. Completely unchanged for decades, absolutely no frills, no jukebox. no tv, no fruit machines, Just a good old fashioned pub that brews its own beer called Spingo and very strong. Plus the usual beers and lagers on tap.... More

A small GBG Pub, with little rooms all on the ground floor. A really old pub with character. It has is own micro brewery too, and sells the Spingo Ales it brews. Any real ale enthusiasts, it's a must.

Very friendly staff and patrons, dogs are welcome too. Fascinating history to the place. Far too easy to get sloshed without realising it. Rounds of great conversation and fantastic home-brewed ales. What more could you ask for?

We have stayed at No 52 for the Beer Festival at the Blue for last 10 years, even came to the Blue for my 50th in Jan 2009. Kim at the B&B is great nothing is ever too much trouble for her, the locals are friendly and the music great. Spingo is the best !!!!!

Went with three friends, none of whom had visited the Blue Anchor before, and my last visit was almost 40 years ago! The beer was excellent and the bar staff extremely friendly and helpful. Two minor problems were no food and parking is some distance away.

A regular visit here is a must. If your in holiday you must pay a visit and try the locally brewed ales. My recommendation "Flora days". Live music nearly every week. Quiz night Mondays. Jam night sometimes too! Relaxing, not clicky with great ales to enjoy in many nooks and crannies of this traditional proper old tavern!

We always make time to come here to drink the Spingo - as our father and grandfather did before us! A real old-fashioned pub with the best ale in Cornwall

Hadn't been in a few years and spent weeks looking forward to it. Still something to behold. A rarity in the day and age of chain pubs etc and a welcome change to the normal. As always, fantastic Spingo and also, the amazing 7.4% special ! I hope this place never changes. If you are in Cornwall and you enjoy... More

A great pub with all the old world charm and good ale brewed on the premises. A must whenever in Helston and if your lucky an impromptu Cornish sing that can happen whenever. Top marks also to the barmaids who are welcoming and service is great.
