The Royal British Legion maintain a Remembrance Garden at the local cemetery. To find it, go down Station Road (opposite the Town Hall), turn left into Tanners Close and straight on into Downs View. The garden is normally decorated with crosses from the weekend before Remembrance Day. In the Cemetery you will find three Commonwealth war graves from World War I and four from World War II.

Any Garden of Remembrance should be maintained in tip top condition. This was is not. It is drab and requires a facelift. Located within the older part of the main town cemetery, the local council and RBL need to get together and sort this particularly...More

Visited in May 2013, my husband was looking forward to visiting the garden of remembrance especially as his is ex army but we were very disappointed as there was very little here. I assume if you visit in November this will be a different story...More
