What a lovely walk! It is a little uneven underfoot in places but if you have proper walking boots on it is no problem. We loved the series of waterfalls and it was so peaceful. The only thing to spoil it for me was the little bags of dog poo abandoned and either hanging in the trees or just left... More

I discovered this when walking from Old Town. I found it lovely after the hot sun and a real pleasure to see no rubbish anywhere.

A beautiful wooded valley is revealed as you walk up the valley from the uninspiring main road by the sewage works. All this is left behind very quickly as you climb through the woods beside above the stream, eventually reaching the site of the old Staups Mill. Beyond here is a series of small waterfalls as the path continues up... More

Jumbles Hole Reservoirs is a beautiful place for a walk with or without your dog. The paths are well made so easy to walk on if you are a bit unsteady, they run alongside the reservoir, which is really quite large. When we were there this May the bluebells were in bloom and were quite stunning. There is a café... More

We did this walk in three hours with our teenage son. It had enough to keep him interested (ruins, water, big rocks!) and wasn't too long (about six miles).

We stayed in the area recently and walked every day. This was the most fascinating and quietest of walks. With the fast flowing stream, steep valley sides, mill ruins and views across to Stoodley Pike I recommend it whole heartedly.

I have now walked down through Jumble Hole Clough half a dozen times over the last year, and whatever the season and weather it never fails to disappoint. In full summer it is a lovely leafy cool and calming dingly dell, a place to savour and linger, in winter when the river level is high the waterfalls and water flow... More

There are lots of fascinating walks in this area and each one has its surprises. I'd walked quite a bit all around here before I managed to find this pretty clough but it was really worth the effort. I'd highly recommend it although one needs to be sure footed as it's a bit vertiginous in places.

Although not the easiest of ambles due to terrain this walk had great atmosphere with photo opportunities. Quite a gem. Went in winter when view of river was unhindered by foliage and hope to revisit to see in other seasons. Ruins make it seem eerie. Gives you a feeling of being in a magic place. Definitely a walk worth the... More
