We took the kids for the promise of an easter egg hunt. Easter Sunday, 10.20 am no Cadbury prizes. To be fair they were no longer charging; yet that's not a consolation if you are 6 or 7. It was supposed to raise funds for the national trust too so buy some more chocolate and keep on charging to enter,... More

We went to Hardcastle Crags on a bank holiday and found it to be a great day out and not too busy. The car park had a national trust attendant who was very helpful in coordinating the parking. There's parking meters which are £5 for the whole day. There's a gravel track which runs from the car parks to Gibson... More

We really loved this place, lovely walks, with clear routes and paths, lots of nice scenery and friendly staff. There were different length routes and stepping stones dotted down the river, I would defiantly go again for a walk or a wander. But the cafe was a disappointment. Situated in the old mill, we had lunch and a cup of... More

Wow what a place!!! So much to see and walks to be had. We were lucky enough to see a heron, squirrel, wagtails, and a woodpecker

We parked in the National Trust car park at Midge Hole, £5 all day. The ground under foot was a bit uneven and boggy in places but we were wearing walking boots so it was ok. There are stepping stones along the way and lovely scenery. We stopped for a break and a hot drink at Gibson Mill which was... More

Lovely afternoon..we managed to park near the he mill and cafe in one of the disabled bays ....best to ring in advance as not many spaces ....we took a circular path, a combination of a couple of routes due to my husbands mobility issues ....taking a few stops along the way it was a very peaceful walk, especially back following the... We took a picnic and the kids aged 9,7 & 5, plus the dog. We had phoned in advance and reserved one of the two disabled bays by Gibson mill as my husband has mobility issues. We went in the mill first, which although it isn't big and there isn't a huge amount to see and do, we managed to... More

Took the circular path around the crags, quite challenging due to the heavy rain that had made it very muddy, so hiking boots or wellies essential. Lovely scenery and our dog loved it. We parked on the side of the road which was free but there is a £4 charge in the national trust carpark. We took snacks and flasks... More

What a lovely and tranquil walk this is. Staring off at the National Trust car park near Midgehole you descend the trail towards Hebden water. The trail sticks close to the waters edge all the way to Gibson Mill, through the woodland valley. A truly lovely walk it has to be said with a few slight technical bits but to... More
