The statue of Christ the redeemer can be easily seen from the streets of San Juan Del Sur. Getting here is relatively easy - just walk along the beach (Entire length) towards the statue. Right at the end a footpath (actually looks a bit like a drain) will take you to the street. Follow this street around and up the hill. This part is fairly challenging but is over pretty quickly. Once at the top you will be charged 1USD (National) or 2USD (Foreigner). The views afforded from the statue are quite impressive. Not only can you get a panoramic view of San Juan Del Sur beach you can actually see all the way to Costa Rica. The whole trip return took us maybe 1.5-2 hours from the centre of San Juan Del Sur.

Had been to San Juan del Sur before and could see the Cristo down from the town but had never taken the time to get up there. We finally made it! After a ten minute drive from the center of town going on the Chocolata, the road that also takes you to the beaches North of the San Juan del Sur bay, and up the steep hill road, we left our car in a parking lot and continued the last 5 minutes up to the Cristo on foot. Breathtaking views and a small little chapel which I found suggestive. The Alcaldía (municipality) charges a little entrance fee when you get up to the highest point. Absolutely worth it. You can also go on foot directly from town just walking North on the beach and then following the directions for the Cristo or asking the friendly locals who live around there. Consider a 45 min walk and a lot of uphill.

Took us 35 minutes from downtown to the top of the lookout with a moderate pace. You need to take a small boat if you’re walking on the beach. It was 10 cordobas (approx $0.25) but we paid $2 because on the way there we didn’t realize there was a fee. The boat crosses a small river and is right along the walking path. From there, don’t do until the very end of the beach. There will be a small opening on your right side that looks like a storm drain between houses. Go through, head left and we used google maps at this point but there will be some signage. It was $2 for foreigner entry and we were the only ones there at 830AM. We spent about half an hour and then did the steep walk down. I’d go early to avoid the heat and crowds. The boat man is there until evening. You can take a taxi or walk way into town to avoid the river crossing but it would add quite a bit of time.

Nice idea to put a Christ statue in the San Juan del Sur bay. It gives a little Rio de Janeiro-vibe, I think.

We drove up the hill, the parking was more than spacious enough. The stairs was a bit steep, but very much doable. $1 for Nicaraguans, $2 for foreigners.

It's a pretty small site, but that's OK. The statue is nice (stairs ánd wheelchair ramp to get to a platform just under the statue), the panorama of the bay is stunning. Under the statue, there is a small chapel/exposition about the building of the statue and some information about other Christ statues in the world.

This was pretty nice. The views were amazing. The statue itself was alright. To get up to it is not convenient. From the parking lot it is fine, just up a few steep stairs, but we thought we would walk from town and the signage to get there was not good. The walk back was fine as we knew the short cuts and were able to get to the beach fairly easy. You can't miss the statue, but the roads to it aren't great. That is why I said average. If in San Juan del Sur you should check it out. Do not go to San Juan del Sur for this statue. We are glad we went up there, but again the experience was average. The view very good.

We decided to visit the Christ of the Mercy statue overlooking the town. Luckily we had rented a car and drove almost to the top. We parked and walked up. It is a steep walk of about 1/4 mile. At the top we paid our $2 each entrance fee. The statue is amazing. There is a small chapel in the base with the history of the statue and other Christ statues around the world. The area around the statue affords amazing views of town and the bay. If you arrive towards the evening you can watch the sunset into the Pacific Ocean. The winds can be strong at the top.

The way up to the Christ is a spectacular with nice houses.. There’s a little chapel up there which adds a beautiful awesome feeling to it.

Going to the Mirador del Cristo de la Misericordia was part of our 3 hour city tour of San Juan del Sur. The statue is impressive, but honestly, the views are even more impressive. It is amazing up there and a must for anyone in San Juan del Sur.

The walk up to the statue is nice and quite short. It has breathtaking views at the top and is perfect in the late afternoon to catch the sunset. A great way to view San Juan Del Sur and its surrounds. Note it does cost $2 to get into the statue, so take cash. Once your done, you can drop into El Pacifico Hotel at the bottom of the hill for a cold beer and a swim in their pool! Perfect way to spend the afternoon!

Nice short ( but very steep ) hike up to the statue. You get beautiful 360 views from the top. You have to pay a 30 cordobas to get the statue though. Watchet the sunset from the top and it was absolutely gorgeous!
