Winos, drunks, addicts, homeless and lots of scary people. Even in front of first rate hotels, they constantly panhandle. Not a good impression for visitors and guests.

I had to go downtown, I like the streets named after our forefathers. The statues and leaders making it's statesmen. A powerful landmark.

Attractions nearby brought us here and it was ok to drive through, but not much downtown would be appealing to many looking for historic buildings or a nice waterfront park. Too many other places to go if you´re looking for that.

Back in the day there was little to do in town. Over the years a hotel here, an eatery there, and things have improved. Lots of places to get a drink, a few places to eat interesting food. Add to this a beautiful river, a nice new art museum, an attractive Capitol Complex, and the ever special Midtown Theatre and... More

The installation of expensive on street parking meters in Harrisburg has made parking, inconvenient, chaotic and expensive, completely ruining visits to the city and hampering the many fine establishments downtown. It's completely out of control and has narrowed our enthusiasm for going into town before 7:00 PM. It is sad to watch business close down. Shame on the local government.

Nice city. There are a lot of bars and restaurants in downtown Harrisburg. Seems to be a drinking man's town!

Run, Duck, Jump and Hide You take your life in to your hands on the weekend if you go downtown. The bars and restaurants really try but the thugs on the corners need to be cleaned out before the Harrisburg Downtown can be taken seriously.

If you plan to hum around Harrisburg on the weekends, popping in and out of stores - you will be disappointed. So many of the stores are closed on the weekend. This really must be a government town since the capitol is here. As long as you don't mind just wondering and finding what is open - and good restaurants... More

We were downtown for an event on a Saturday afternoon. We ended up walking around. There were plenty of restaurants open and many options to choose from. Plus downtown Harrisburg is just a block or two away from the River Front and that is a lovely paved walk. And it's also possible to walk over to City Island.

There are lots of places to drink. Sadly the parking is expensive. The good side of this is that parking is available.
