Museums can be lots of reading ... or like this one: offer a great combination of reading and short movies. Learned about causes of Civil war, effects on people/families, specific battles and finally how it ended. Spent a rainy 3 hours realizing we haven’t changed...More

Very interesting review of tragic times in history. The self guided tour was well designed. The only negative comment was the lighting made it hard to read sometimes.

First class. Worth it to anybody who wants to see a balanced view of the Civil War and the impacts of that war on families on both sides, as well as on the economy of our country.

Just another Civil War Museum - NOT ! This one goes far more in-depth than any other one. Very educational. Very interesting and the "Firsts" topped it off. These were the "First" events, equipment etc. ever in a war. I could spend hours there.

The best place to start would be to contact the US Army Heritage & Education Center in Carlisle, PA and check one of their reference bibliographies on the 21st PA Calvary. I hope this helps!
