While the inside and grounds are nice and the staff friendly, the red wines we purchased were absolutely horrible! Only one white we tried was drinkable. We were a large group of friends and bought several bottles of various different reds and whites to taste. All of us agreed we will not be going back.

I hadn’t been there in years and it was always my favorite Bucks Cty winery… NOT ANY MORE Their Chardonnay vintages 20 yrs ago were so delicious and buttery, reminiscent of a CA Chardonnay. Now the 2 Chardonnays I tasted were so mineral forward and sweet that they were almost not drinkable The other wines, with the exception of the Port, which had a peppery and full bodied finish, were also on the sweet side. The man doing the tasting wasn’t knowledgeable about the wines and was unprofessional. He was the only one at the front entrance area and had to interrupt the tasting to wait on customers. There were no snacks or water to cleanse your palate between wines. I was very disappointed and won’t be returning.

We did the wine tasting (great Groupon deal also) and I highly recommend. The gentleman leading the tasting was great and we walked away with some favorites. You can sit on the patio and amazing view at the Delaware River

I enjoyed the ability to see the vineyard as these grounds were fantastic. One must ascend a driveway that has elevation in order to enter. There is tons of parking. I have close connections to the wine industry and the staff was super friendly. I tasted many of the winery’s beverages, but my favorite drink was the rosé or the riesling. The Delaware River is extremely close to the winery.

We opted for the wine tasting and tour portion. The wine tasting was very good for the value. I would skip the tour though. Our wine tasting host was very knowledgeable of the products. Since he was a chef/restaurant owner before, he knew what to pair the different wines for. We did but a couple of wines that we tasted.

Amazing winery to visit. Staff is always wonderful, welcoming and warm. Tastings are delightful, delicious wine & beautiful views. So much fun to be part of the tasting, Surf and Turf truck, Terrarium making event. Such an enjoyable afternoon. Always a memorable visit.

We went on a Saturday for the 1pm wine tour. The area where you enter is extremely disorganized and nobody wears anything to distinguish staff from the customers. We started our tour on time and the man in charge took us outside to speak some about the different grapes that are grown onsite and then proceeded to the cellar. In the cellar we got to see some vats full of grapes soaking and some facts about wine making and the machinery used. This part of the tour was fair educational. After the wine cellar tour we went to the tasting area where we were allowed to taste about 12 wines. About 40 people had to stand along tables while the owner stood on a ladder to instruct the group. The owner on the ladder was by far the best part of the tour he was very funny and knowledgable. The actual tasting was ok but still disorganized and the man that poured our wine was skimpy in his pour and had no personality. The other line of tables pourer seemed to be much better and certainly more generous in the amount he poured to taste. The whole tour took about an hour.
We then went down to a seating area and were given a paper plate of a few cheeses and meats with Ritz crackers. The tray was decent. I went up to the bar to get a couple glasses of wine and waited a while as they had one man serving about 20 people. Another woman at the bar commented on how he needed help and how disorganized they felt their tasting was. As far as the wines, none of them were out of this world but decided I would buy a bottle of the Alpine Spice as it was unique and different. I walked up to the cashiers station, where no one was, and waited a few minutes to see if anyone would come by. Finally I see a middle aged woman coming towards the register and just before she got there a group said "excuse me, do you work here?" The woman turned and stated very sarcastically "Ummm Yeah, Do I look like I just wandered in to drink a bunch of wine?". I think my mouth dropped open in disbelief at that moment. I was next in line and just stepped out of line and decided I wouldn't give this business another cent of my money if the staff was going to act like that. I felt like walking up to the woman and saying something or at least making the owner aware. Since it was not said to me I did not say anything rather I left and said I would never go back to this establishment. We left and drove to Buckingham Winery in New Hope and bought a case of wine for half the price of what it would have cost us at Sand Castle. The staff always treats us nice at Buckingham and in my opinion the wine is much better.

My girlfriend and I have been to several other PA wineries, including Rushland Ridge, Rose Bank, several others on the Bucks County Wine Trail, and Chaddsford. Sand Castle was disappointing at best. We went due to a Travel Zoo deal we got online for a tour, tasting, and cheese platter. When we arrived, the inside was packed. At first, we thought that meant this place was great, and popular, however, we were very wrong. While this winery has been fully operational with the castle since 2007, one would think they'd have a smooth busness running by now, however, I can assure you it is not. The cashier was very rude to everyone in line, and even told us that we may be turned away for a tasting after driving an hour and a half from the city because we did not call ahead... Meanwhile the Travel Zoo deal explicitly stated "reservations not required". She also did not provide us any information on what tour to take, when, and where to get wine glasses or the cheese platter, then called the next customer in line. Rude.
While the tour was short, it was thorough enough, but ended with confusion as the entire tour emptied back into the main hall without a clue as to where or when the wine tasting would begin. We stood around for 15 minutes until someone running around yelled that we'd be in the back room rather than one of the bars set up for the tasting. Another 10 minutes passed before the owner came out with boxes of wine glasses for everyone to get a glass. They were covered with cardboard flakes which we wiped out by hand. The tasting was rushed, knowingly, by the owner, which would have been fine if we all got equal pours. Some got half a glass. Others got a few drips. Everyone at our table felt the same way, which made the experience better since we knew we weren't the only ones thinking this is a Mickey Mouse operation.
Afterwards, we got the cheese platter in the gallery room and bought glasses of wine, which can only be done at the only cash register in the building... Another 15 minute wait and rude service again. They didn't even have wine to pour at the ready. Everyone buying a glass of wine was served the same way: run to the back to grab a bottle, run to the sink to rinse out the glass, pour the glass, run away with the bottle to the back room. Strange... Why not just keep bottles for pouring at the bar? Also, $15 for two glasses of wine is ok for Center City, but come on now, this is Bucks County. Get over yourself.
Overall, the drive there was scenic, and the tasting done by the owner was ok. But the service was terrible, and the overall business seemed to be very unorganized. I would recommend against going here, unless you like paying too much for "meh" wines, and rude service.

After taking a wine pairing and tasting class we purchased a bottle of 2008 Riesling at the Sand Castle retail store in Warrington, PA which we stored in our wine cooler refrigerator for the past 2 months. When we opened it, it was undrinkable...so sour that we dumped the whole bottle!! We brought the bottle with us to the winery in Erwinna. We were told by staff that we had probably stored it improperly and it was supposed to be sour! Really? The owner's wife told us we should return it to Warrington where we purchased it! Any winery that does not stand behind its label will not find itself in my wine collection! We stood and waited almost 1/2 hour for our wine tasting. One person was doing everything. Definitely will not go back as there are many places with good wines that stand behind their product.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the winery;what a great location (about 30 mins outside of New Hope) and also VERY reasonably priced to host an event here.
Jamie, their event coordinator, was a joy to work with!
My husband and I, as well as our guests, fell in love with the beautiful scenery; the vineyards were in full bloom and the winery building itself is stunning. Beautiful location for photos!
Another big plus is that the winery is located at the top of a hill, so not susceptible to the flooding that sometimes gets the New Hope area after a big rainfall. The hilltop location also blocks out the noise of the Route 32 traffic below!

We didn't see anyone by that name. We've been going there for at least eight years.
