I learned about art tiles....

Loved learning about the process from start to finish of making art tiles from good old Pennsylvania red clay, found locally.

This place is almost as fascinating as the man himself. Go there! When you see these tiles all over the world or on a friend's fireplace you will know where they hailed from.

My latest visit was one of many over the past thirty years. Mercer tiles ARE Doylestown. In fact it was the sight of the Tile Works from Swamp Road that made me investigate my future home. If you come to town, this is a must visit.

Slow down, step back into history, and learn as you see how the beautiful tiles are made. Then take one home! We have purchased tiles for friends for house warming presents, special gifts, and just because. The tile work is amazing and the building alone is worth the tour. Plenty of room outside for kids to play in the grass,... More

We found this museum to be really interesting, so much to see. Really neat to see how tiles are made and everything that goes into making a tile. The volunteers were very friendly and were more than happy to answer questions. Definitely worth a visit.

enjoying the beauty of handmade tiles was greatly enhanced by talking with the artist who actually is involved in creating the tiles from start (as clay) to the final products. The factory is just across the parking from the Fonthill Castle, the home Henry Mercer who also owned the tile works. Combining these two attractions, with Doylestown's farms and restaurants... A treasure trove of tile can be procured at this uniquely authentic warp in time. You will feel that you dropped into a 1900's movie set when you visit! Don't let that deter you from getting creative and assembling a tile masterpiece of your own. They sell many unique pieces that can create a unique expression in tile (fireplace surround,... More
