Once a prison, now a world-class art museum. Housed on the site of what was once the Bucks County Jail, the Michener Art Museum is an American art institution dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting the art and cultural heritage of the Delaware Valley region and beyond. Welcoming 135,000 visitors each year, the Michener showcases a spectacular collection of Pennsylvania Impressionist paintings as well as many special and permanent exhibitions that include the work of historical and contemporary painters, sculptors, photographers, and furniture designers. Art transforms—we’ll show you how.

This museum is right in downtown Doylestown, PA. Michener's vision is apparent in the museums unique collection and entering special exhibitions. It has a rustic feel, as Michener would have wanted. It also speaks to a plain vision for world action that I really liked....More

The building is stunning and the various art works are well displayed. We especially liked some of the indoor and outside sculpture and the furniture. Bright and light buildings and the ideal setting for the collection.

Very impressive painting by local artists from past 150 years. The woodworking pieces were what I enjoyed the best.

This was a nice find. We say the Henriette Wyeth exhibit, and while I grew up saturated with the work of N.C., Andy, and Jamie, it was fascinating to see a whole other dimension of the family. The works were very well organized and displayed...More

The building itself is admirable, and the exhibits are nicely laid out. I went to enjoy the impressionist landscape paintings of Bucks county by notable artists in their permanent collection, and I did. Enjoyed the current exhibits, as well, including that of Henriette Wyeth and...More
