The park itself is clean and well kept. We couldn't believe how good the vault toilet house smelled. Park rangers were courteous and informational with where to buy firewood, etc. There are two different places to camp. The astronomers field (no fires allowed) or the normal campground area which is where we stayed. There is a field you can stroll... More

I lucked out and went to the park on a crystal clear but warm-ish late winter night. It was muddy and some snow on the ground still but the temperature was in the 50Fs. There were very few people there and I got there just before dusk. There was just one star in the sky. There are picnic tables and... More

We came here in February thinking that it gets dark sooner and that there would be no crowds. Both of those thoughts were correct, but despite a nearly cloudless day as the sun set the clouds moved right in from the east and we could only see a few stars. Will hope to come back at a better time, highly... More

I've gone to Cherry Springs for the Black Forrest Star Party for years. I enjoy it the whole time I'm there. Whether it's raining or clear skies. The park has WiFi, and bathrooms. On a good clear night the stars are so bright it's hard to make out the constellations.

You can not be disappointed on a clear night here. Your night time blanket is the Milky Way, thousands and thousands of stars can be seen. It truly is unlike anything you have ever seen. It will give you great pause to sit and contemplate where you are at. Go here, while you still can.

We will visit again. Sadly we arrived on a cloudy night and didn't get to see any stars. The campsites were nice though.

If you are lucky enough to gate a clear night this is a great place for stargazing. Nice facilities, very rustic, but that's the idea. Very cold at night, any night, so pack jackets, sleeping bags.

We camped a night at Cherry Spring over the labor day weekend and it was a splendid experience. Cherry spring being one of the rare 'dark sky' parks in the East Coast, we were pretty excited to catch a sights of the Milky Way. Fortunately, the weather stayed true & we were rewarded with some amazing views of the stars.... More

This space is in a wonderful location and it was a great day to drive through and check out the sites. I missed the leaves by a week (or maybe just a single rain storm).

If there is a full moon you will not see so many stars but still well worth the trip at night!! There is a nice seating area so no need for chairs, just take yourself!!!
