My husband and I went for our honeymoon. It was quiet and peaceful and just what we needed to get away for awhile, and unplug from technology.

Cook forest is a really enjoyable place to visit, the dense forest can take away the sunlight and make you slow down to appreciate the forest. Cell service is sketchy here, which is a benefit as it helps you to enjoy the surroundings. Lots of hiking, camping, and river activities to be found.

If you love, or even just kinda like the outdoors, this is the place for you. Hunt, fish, hike, canoe, or just leaf peep! Lots of summer activities for the children such as go karts, horse back riding and bumper boats. If you have a couple days, take the just over 2 hr drive straight out rt.28! You won't be... More

Cook Forest is a wild and beautiful setting. I recommend that you stop at the Visitor Center for maps of the trails before you begin hiking. There is no clear signage directing you to the Visitor Center. It's easy to drive right past it. If you are driving north to Cook Forest on 36, as soon as you cross the... More

Enjoyed the hike up through the old growth forest. Everything covered in moss and green ferns. Amazing to see that a storm in August of 1956 blew down 60% of the large trees. Thanks to the individuals who thought to preserve this ares.

Great woods and there are a few great places to stop and see. And then there are some places that you should just stay away from

45 years ago, we used to consider the Cooks Forest area to be our "family secret". Well not so much anymore, as this wonderful forested area has definitely been discovered by many others. There is now the miniature golf, go cart play land just down the street. But, despite the increased traffic and occasional crowds on weekends in the summer... More

60+ years of serenity walking the trails of Cook Forest. Do I have a favorite trail? Yes, each trail is special in it's own way. If I am in the mood for long hike I will walk to fire tower and down the River Trail and back up, about ten miles. For a shorter, more leisurely walk I will take... More
