About
This place is a hidden gem in Beaver Falls, Pa. A very short hike to get to the waterfall. You can walk behind the falls and swim on a warm day if you choose. Its a shame that people litter in such a beautiful place.

This falls is a very short walk from the parking area. You can swim in the area below the falls and walk behind the falls. It makes a nice afternoon trip if you are looking for something to do. The only negative is some broken glass and trash close to the falls. There is some poison ivy in the area, but well off the trail.

Buttermilk Falls came up in an article about the 10 tallest falls in PA. Since they are somewhat local we decided to ride over and check it out.
The small lower lot had one vehicle parked in it and it appears we arrived while a sex act was in progress in the vehicle. We decided to go to the upper church parking area. There is a porn store pretty close to this lower level parking lot.
We proceeded to the path to view the falls. Disappointed does not begin to describe our first impression. Graffiti, trash and broken glass everywhere. Didn’t go all the way down to the falls as the path was in bad shape. It’s a shame the area is not taken care of.

Since the parking lot is small, we had to park at the church further up the road to access the falls. Actually the trail down to the falls is extremely hazardous. No railings, poison ivy near the trail as well. It was so bad that I only went part way down and stopped. It isn't worth the chance of an accidental fall. Perhaps from down below the pathway or trail is better maintained.

... after the election, and it's sunny, warm and quiet today. A perfect moment maybe made to enjoy for a great election result. Joe and Kamala made great speeches last night. I couldn't imagine it being this so nice right now if the election went the other way - nature has a way of knowing these things. It's a beautiful spot to come and admire a pretty waterfall and just spend some time with family and friends - or alone as usual for me. Lots of rocks to crawl around and get up close to the falls. Also a nice walkway to play it safe. The area's small and there's not too many parking spots, and I think this place is kind of out of the way for most everyone and doesn't get many people. I'll definitely come here again anytime on my way north.

Very small parking area here, big enough for three cars. Other reviews state there is a parking lot at a nearby church but we didn’t go to the church. Short and sweet walk to the waterfall. You will climb a few steep stairs. .3 miles round trip. Would have given five stars but the area has been ruined with graffiti and there is glass and litter everywhere.

This is the original Buttermilk Falls. The other one in New Florence is CLOSED and locked up. This one is a very nice falls. The one in New Florence not worth the gas and time. The one in NewFlorence is closed and people are getting the two mixed up. Don’t drive all the way there when it is a county park run by the county there for it is Closed.

We’ve been trying to get out in the open air on a regular basis during the Corona Virus shutdown, sometimes looking for local places we can explore without a crowd. Having never been to Buttermilk Falls, we went there a couple days ago and were pleasantly surprised! It is beautiful! It’s not a large park but just calm and picturesque; we took a number of photos. If you walk up the hill on the narrow paved road, there is a quaint Methodist Church with a parking lot and adjacent continuation of Buttermilk Falls Park with picnic tables overlooking the beginning of the Falls. Very delightful, perfect for an afternoon walk for a couple hours. I can’t believe that we missed this local site even having lived in the area for 45 years. We’ll certainly return with a bagged lunch!

Our Family of 5, (youngest 5) all loved it. Beautiful, peaceful....Great for photography and enjoying nature. Muddy and slippery in the winter as you get close to the falls.
Cute free little library up top and picnic tables too! We stopped on way home from OH to NJ...right off the highway

Very close to the PA turnpike intersection with route 18. Short ten minute walk through an old quarry to the falls. Stay on the trails as with any natural area there are hazards. Locals use the grotto for swimming on hot days. Small parking area and small sign identifying the area. Dont miss it!

This is a nice place to go see, however, I would say it is a little under developed. As I said it is nice but in some ways not a hole lot to see.
