The Sunshine Mill now houses Quenett and Copa Di Vino wineries owned and operated by James and Molli Martin, both from The Dalles. Quenett Winery released its first vintage in 2002 and burst onto the wine scene with its outstanding vintages of Sangiovese and Zinfandel. The word Quenett comes from the journals of Lewis and Clark, who camped along luscious and fruitful banks of the Columbia River and learned from the local Indians that the word Quenett meant "Steelhead."

We stopped on way through The Dalles. We've always wanted to stop and see this winery. I'd seen many pictures of the inside with all the wonderful decorations and how they preserved a lot of the equipment from the old mill. Very nice grounds outside.

This was a stop on our Valentine's Day tour of Gorge Wineries, and this one had by far the best customer service. Great conversation about the wines and other local things! The serving host told us about a great new state park campground nearby - Cottonwood Canyon - that we hadn't visited before. The wines were good and we couldn't... More

I live in The Dalles area & it has been so exciting to watch how they have taken an eye sore in town & made it into a destination. Our town can't be more proud of these owners who have changed having a glass of wine & lite appetizers a great place to sit & enjoy time with your friends.... More

Love this place. Great atmosphere historically interesting renovation of a Flour Mill into a Wine and Bistro. Family owned and operated business with integrity and vision.

We went there one day around 2 o'clock, the lady behind the counter was serving two couples at the bar. we went around and checked the place out ( which is an awesome location ). Not once did we get asked if she could help us or showed any interest in doing so, we left. Still worth the walk through... More

The building is great, wonderful atmosphere and the small plates are perfect for sharing between two or three people. Well worth the price. The wines on the other hand are mediocre at best for the Pacific Northwest. Come here to enjoy the atmosphere, not for top quality wines.

This is a fun winery that has re-purposed much of the old industrial machinery belonging to the former flour mill called the Sunshine Mill (hence the name.) Today, it still has a vintage look with an eclectic twist. Seating consists of high stools, old couches that are really too low, and over-stuffed chairs. It is home to Quenett and Copa... More

Fun place to visit as this old factory is now a winery putting the original machinery to use as it's decor. Wine tasting and just taking in the vintage objects makes it a fun stop during your time in The Dalles area.

The winery occupies a former flour mill operated by Sunshine Biscuits, hence its name. Some of the old machinery is still on view in the tasting room and adjacent rooms. The tasting room is a large, friendly space with tables, chairs and sofas, and wine tasting can be combined with food - e.g. antipasti, cheese board, artichoke dip. We had... More

We enjoyed 7 tastes for $7 and several of the reds absolutely delicious. We love the COLUMBIA RIVER wineries and this is an excellent one to both taste & enjoy the building history & environment.
