Peaceful Park. It is a great place to sit, relax, and watch the river flows. There are plenty of parking spaces available. Ideal for picnic.

Visited here on the way up I5 towards Portland. Difficult park to get to. Nothing really to see here. I thought the globe and the bridge were cool, so I took a picture. Probably a good place for a picnic. That's about all I can say about it.

We made a short stop in Salem to visit the State Capitol and to stretch our legs. We made our way towards the river thru downtown (a few short blocks) and crossed over to the park. There is a cool-looking bridge, a globe and of course the historic carousel (which was closed when we were there). Attractive park just minutes from downtown.

Riverfront Park offers good views of the Willamette River, pleasant walks, amphitheaters for performances, restroom facilities (though they are pretty filthy), a carousel that was not open the thursday we visited and a dock with a paddle wheeler. Also access to island prettry much left to nature. Skateboarders seem to think they have the right of way over pedestrians on the paths so be careful.

The park was in downtown and a bit tricky to get to. It was a nice park and still under development. It appeared they are working on a riverfront project to make it better. We stopped by on a weekday so the park was almost empty with a couple homeless hanging around. They kept to themselves and did not bother people passing by. No asking for money aggressively or in a threatening way like in CA. We enjoyed a peaceful walk around the park. It is not a must do in Salem. If you have time, stop by for less than 1 hour

Soft grass. Musicians playing. Families picnicking. The carousel was closed but you could see it through the windows, including the woodwork repairs

My wife and I were visiting the city when we stumbled upon this park. It is large and right along the Willamette River. The only complaint is the grounds had just been cut and there were rows and rows of cut grass. Not good for the allergies. Their maintenance department needs to sharpen their mower blades!!

A good place to see another side of Salem as you view or ride the carousel, check out the sternwheeler and the river, take photos in front of the giant, colorful globe or stroll across the bridge to walk on the island.

This is a beautiful river front park in the heart of downtown Salem. Great wide walking paths the circle the entire park. We watched Bald Eagles fishing in the river, which was really amazing. The park has perfectly manicured grass and vegetation. They have benches and picnic tables as well as many mature shade trees to sit under.
For kids they have a beautiful carousel with hand sculpted animals. They often have popcorn, or hotdogs for sale near the carousel during summer months.
The park has a nice large play structure for kids, it is not shaded so surfaces can become very hot in the heat if the day during the summer.
The park also has many special events throughout the spring and summer that are always well organized.
During these events parking can be a challenge since they only offer two Somewhat small parking areas. Overflow parking is in the streets of downtown.
River Front park is also attached to Mintos Brown Park by a bridge, this park is primarily for nature lovers who prefer to walk on dirt paths.
Overall I think this is the best park in Salem and would recommend it to anyone visiting Salem.

The park is located on a branch of the Willamette River. The park is beautifully landscaped, has lots of picnic tables and bences, and is a great place to walk. The parking is a little far for older people or people with disabilities.
